In the ancient village of Lamothe=Montravel, positioned close to the world famous vineyards of St Emilion, where the old cobbled streets of the village are lined with wine boutiques and gift shops.

The village benefits from a train station with services to Bordeaux, Libourne, Bergerac and Sarlat.

A new independant grocery shop stocks local produce and includes a butchers, The post office, bakery, newsagent/ tobacconist, garage and pizzeria are all located within a short walk of the apartment. High street supermarkets can be found in Castillon La Bataille 5 kilometres by road or Velines.

Local bicycle hire is available and there is secure storage in the apartment if you bring your own.

There is a good local mix of traditional and other restaurants and bars.

The area is steeped in history and boasts its involvement in the end of the 100 year war, including the site of the last battle between England and France, with a monument showing where the English General John Talbot was killed, there is re-enactment every year for 3 nights a week during the months of July and August.

An excavated Roman Villa is open all year round in the neighbouring village of Montcaret.

Canoe hire is available at various sites along the Dordogne River with the option of supervised excursions.
