The Puku Vai is a motel-style one-story hotel located just two blocks from the airport terminal, so you can easily walk there when you arrive. As a result, it's a few blocks further from the main restaurant area than some other hotels, but still not that far (though a rental car or taxi helps if you are carrying groceries or late at night). Rooms are large and air conditioned (unusual on Easter Island), with plenty of hot water. The hotel has a small swimming pool if you don't feel like driving to the beach. There isn't much noise at night, but the local roosters will make sure you get up at sunrise (again, a general Easter-Island feature, not a hotel defect). The breakfast buffet is fine. We had hoped for more support from the hotel arranging tourist outings--staff were friendly, but a bit evasive. You really need to know what you want before you get there, since internet is exceedingly slow (again an island-wide issue, not a hotel issue). Overall, a reasonable choice at the high end of Easter-Island offerings.
