Upon arrival, I took pictures to make sure the owner didn’t think we made the stains on the couch, left the fire alarm dangling from the master bedroom ceiling or water dripping and puddling in the bathtub. The cabin was in a beautiful location with amazing mountain views. We loved the back porch area, especially the fireplace on the screened porch. However, we have stayed in many cabins and this was the first time we were told to bring our own firewood, toilet paper and paper towels. The owner did let me know she’d have housekeeping leave enough wood and toilet paper for the first night. The rules also ask that you strip the linens and put those and the towels in the bathroom by the washer/dryer and to start a load of laundry prior to leaving……..but they had no laundry soap. I had brought some from home so I started the load prior to our departure. When we arrived, there were only two towels and one washcloth in the cabinet. It wasn’t until I did a load of our own laundry that I discovered additional towels in the dryer. We were instructed to take our trash to a refuse
miles away upon departure.. We were going to sweep after my husband cleaned out the fireplace on the porch but there was no broom.. There was a swiffer, but the kitchen floor was sticky when we arrived which puzzled me. . I guess my question would be why do you have to pay a cleaning service fee when we did a huge portion of the cleaning? Wouldn’t your cleaning service thoroughly clean, replenish toilet paper, paper towels, laundry soap for the load you’re required to start and firewood? We had no problem providing our own food and drinks which is customary. After messaging with the owner, we also had no problem purchasing our own firewood and toilet paper and paper towels. I just found it strange.
As I stated in the beginning, the cabin was in a beautiful location and had amazing views. I sat on the porch morning and evening with a fire and it was very peaceful. We had neighbors, but you’d never know because it was nice and quiet.. We enjoyed our stay and when messaging the owner before our stay, she seemed to be a nice person.
