Ok if passing through.
This was a much researched and planned trip. Having seen promotional info about the Mayan inn online with staff in traditional gear , we were full of anticipation. The info in the Inn itself suggested guests take a drink in the fire lit cosy bar. It gets cold at night in the highlands and after a day exploring the market, that would have been welcome.
The Inn hasn’t changed much since the 1930s although it does have WiFi in public areas not in bedrooms. Bedroom was dark and tired.
Staff were friendly enough but not in traditional wear.
Breakfast , if included, is carefully rationed out and one needs to ask for butter or more coffee.
The enticing bar had no fire for the 3 nights there , so we sat in coats. The bar opening times are limited- some nights it shut at 8 pm.
We paid extra for a Mountain View: the hills were invisible because of trees right next to the window.
This is an old hotel with quirky items and some interesting paintings but…… it’s ok for two nights if passing through. It is a few meters from the market and famous churches so well positioned. We stayed for 3 nights and felt it lacked guest comfort zones.
