Relaxing log home on a private mountainside in Rappahannock County, Virginia

Relax, reconnect, and recharge at Poes Mountain Lodge. Enjoy the nature views and privacy that 50 acres provides.

The cabin is constructed with Canadian western red cedar logs. Enjoy 3 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, an open kitchen and living area, a large deck, and a screened in back porch. There is a stone fireplace that contains stone from the original cabin that was constructed in the late 1700s.

Enjoy local wineries, Skyline Drive (about 30 minutes away), venture out to DC for a day trip, or stay put and enjoy the house amenities. The sky has very low light pollution which provides a great backdrop for stargazing at night. We like to sit on the back porch in the rocking chairs and observe all of the wildlife that call the mountain home.

What a delightful place!
My wife and I, along with another couple, loved our stay at Poe's Mountain. The place was very clean, check-in/check out were super easy, and Brian was very responsive. He also provided us with some great info on places to eat (Shawn's BBQ in Culpepper was delicious). We enjoyed sitting on the deck both morning and evening listening and watching the birds. We were even awakened one morning by a male wild turkey gobbling away outside our bedroom window with his female entourage following him. So enjoyable to see and hear. So very peaceful, too! We did not want to leave!!! We are definitely planning a return. Thanks again Brian for your hospitality. Rich & Luci

Wonderful two-night birthday retreat
What a wonderful stay in celebration of my mother-in-law's birthday! The house is unique, gorgeous and spotless--such a cool place. The signage on the property was super helpful, we were greeted with thoughtful snacks on our arrival, and the kitchen was well stocked. Brian was extremely responsive to our questions. The only small thing is that I was left wondering if the online guidebook was entirely up-to-date (for example, we struggled to find the trail to the summit that was described there--but we're no explorers so that could very well have been on us!). All in all, the whole family loved being here and would highly recommend.

Best Rental Stay Ever!
From communication to close, this was my best rental stay during my adult life. Outstanding kitchen and suppplies (quantity and quality), linens/towels, games, decent internet, a perfect gas grill, and most of all -- peace and quiet. Tons of wineries around too (go to Gadino). Never been so impressed with the over the top cleaning of a location as well...Marine Spotless! Outside solostove is calling my name fornwhen we return! So blessed to have found this property! Just what my family needed.

Perfect weekend getaway!
Lovely cabin! The host is wonderful. We stayed with two other couples, one older child, and three toddlers. We all had plenty of space to spread out in the cabin and the yard is huge. You will find everything you need and more. Our kids loved the toys that were already at the cabin and we didn’t unpack any of ours. The kitchen is VERY well stocked. Brian is incredibly responsive and has thought of everything to make this cabin a relaxing and enjoyable stay. While at the cabin we were already talking about plans to book it again!

Lovely stay
My family and I stayed at Pope’s Mountain Lodge for Christmas. It’s a beautiful house and property. Everything you need is there and beds are comfortable. It’s a perfect place to spend the holiday. We didn’t get around too much to visit the wineries, but we made it to the Copper FOX Distillery, which was fun. Brian is a great host and great communication. There wasn’t a thing we needed. I recommend staying there.

Secluded cabin near Shenandoah
We were looking for a quiet cabin near Shenandoah National Park and we sure found it. First the cabin. It was absolutely stunning. Nicest Vrbo property we have ever stayed at. Incredibly clean, well provisioned and comfortable. The cabin is spacious and very comfortable for my family of four and our dog. Second the property. We were looking for quiet and it sure checked that box. It was a beautiful wooded property with a nice backyard to hang out in with a firepit. We spent more time with at the firepit and on the deck than in the house. The location was exactly what we were looking for too. We were looking for restaurants or shopping or anything like that. We wanted to hike in the National Park and maybe stop in at a brewery and winery. Everything was within about 30 minutes which was great. Finally, communication was excellent. Brian was quick to respond to questions and provided the most detailed check in guide we have ever seen. It was great. Would love to stay again some time.
