Description

Experience the spirit of aloha on luau grounds set within lush Smith's Gardens in the sacred Wailua River Valley, a true tropical paradise on east Kauai. Savor a delicious meal of island-style favorites, and then discover the music and dance of Polynesia during a performance that concludes with a thrilling fire knife finale.

Make your way to Smith's Garden, an oasis near the Wailua River in an area once reserved for Hawaiian royalty. You're greeted with a beautiful shell lei and then given some time to explore the verdant, 30-acre (12-ha) gardens, either on foot or with a narrated tram tour.

Next, follow your nose to the location of the imu ceremony, as members of the Smith family unearth a slow-roasted kalua pig from an underground oven. Lyrical Hawaiian music plays as you head to the bar for a Mai Tai, and continues as you fill your plate with island specialties like lomi lomi salmon, fresh-caught mahi mahi, and beef teriyaki.

After your last bite of decadent tropical dessert, the lights fade, the torches are lit, and rhythmic drums set the stage for a celebration of the song and dance of Polynesia and beyond. Marvel at the skill of graceful hula dancers and the percussive movements of Tahitian drum dancers, admire the colorful dress from around the South Pacific, and prepare to be amazed by the daring precision of Samoan fire knife dancers that bring the even to a thrilling close against the backdrop of an erupting volcano.

It’s family owned and they make you feel part of their family. From the moment we entered the grounds until we left we were treated so well. The food was awesome and the show was amazing. If you leave there hungry it’s your own fault. They had so much to offer and you are able to go back as many times as you want. I have been to two other places and this is the best one! The next time I come back to the island I will be returning there.

The all you can eat buffet had a little something for everyone, including vegetarian and gluten free options. The pork and teriyaki beef was delicious! I also enjoyed the open bar! The grounds are beautiful and have many locations to take photos. The show was very entertaining with live music. Everything is outside , so just make sure to wear bug spray. We ended up with several mosquito bites.

Absolutely wonderful evening, the beautiful gardens, great fresh food, plentiful drinks and amazing show after dinner made for a memorable evening, The Smith Family has 4 generations involved with the operations and they have it down to a science. Parking on arrival, no problem, checking in is a breeze, stroll through the gardens the watch as they pull one of the pigs from the cooking pit. Make your way to the giant dining hall and have a cocktail while you wait for you table to be call to the buffet. Sit back and enjoy all you can eat, pork, fish, chicken and beef and many sides are all provided, the after dinner show is a beautiful mix of dance from around the pacific.
