Description

Venture out to the Isle of Skye and drive through the natural beauty of Scotland on this day-long tour. Travel past sights like the Moray Firth before arriving in Skye, where your guide shows you breathtaking landscapes. Also explore the medieval Eilean Donan Castle before heading back.

Leave the bustle of Inverness behind as you drive toward the Isle of Skye. Your journey takes you past breathtaking vistas of the Moray Firth as you pass over the Kessock Bridge. Pause in the town of Strathcarron to see the glassy waters of Loch Carron, then make your way through the island of Eilean Ban into the Isle of Skye.

Your driver shows you the stunning Cuillin Hills, whose majestic ranges rise in rounded red peaks and pinnacles of dark, jagged rock. Admire the spectacular mountains from a distance before crossing the Sligachan Bridge, an ancient stone structure that crosses the supposedly enchanted waters of the River Sligachan. Head into Portree, the charming capital of Skye, where you have time to explore and grab lunch on your own.

After Portree, bid the misty isle farewell and travel to Eilean Donan Castle, which sits perched at the junction of the Lochs Duich, Long, and Alsh. Built in the 13th century, the castle was destroyed in 1719 during the Jacobite rebellions, and restored again in the 20th century. Admire the idyllic fortress before heading back to Inverness and driving past the Loch Ness along the way.

We enjoyed this tour very much. It was a long day but well worth it. Our guide was terrific and the scenery was amazing. We left with a wonderful sense of the western side of the highlands.

This was not worth the money we paid. The company had a tour that included Old Man of Storr, etc, for the EXACT same price which would have been so much better. This day trip is solely for elderly people who just want to visit small towns for 20 min each and nothing to see in any of them. The "tour" of Portree was the driver randomly saying things over the speaker as we rushed by, we spent more time stopping for coffee on the side of the road than we did in Skye, and overall this was a huge waste of a day. I would only recommend this if you have nothing else to do in the Highlands and want to see random small towns.

Wonderful trip! Glad I wasn’t doing the driving! The road had portions where only one car could go through at a time. Our driver was friendly, funny and informative. He knew all of the stops for beautiful photographs. My husband was able to nap a bit during the long drive! I would recommend this trip as we saw all of the sites while being driven in a comfortable van that held 18 people
