What you can expect

Explore the immense beauty of the Chacahua Lagoon National Park. Climb on a boat led by an expert guide, and discover the waterways, the small island of corral, and gorgeous Chacahua beach, where you eat delicious garlic shrimp and relax in a hammock.

Get picked up from your hotel in Puerto Escondido and travel to the Zapotalito, where you board a small boat piloted by a local guide. Cruise through the gentle waterways, reflecting the greens off tropical foliage along the banks, learn about Oaxaca's many species of crocodiles at a reptile farm, and see exotic birds, including the majestic tiger heron.

Pass the small Isla Corral, home to only 50 inhabitants, before arriving at Chacahua beach in the afternoon. Relax on the beach, and choose to enjoy a lunch of mojarra or shrimp in garlic or spicy sauce. Before you head back, recline in a hammock and take in the sounds of birds.
