Description

Admire the rugged beauty of Cathedral Canyon, Horseshoe Bend, and Glen Canyon Dam under clear, azure skies with a native Navajo guide. This hike lets you discover the region, including the customs and culture of the Navajo people of the Four Corners area.

Head out along Oak Creek Canyon Road—one of America's most scenic drives—through oak and evergreen forests with a backdrop of red-brown cliffs. Pass by Slide Rock, one of the top US state parks, and then reach the top of the Colorado Plateau, driving through the world's second largest ponderosa pine forest.

Continue into the brilliant, multicolored badlands of Painted Desert and then enter Vermillion Cliffs National Monument, a 277-mile (446-km) maze of towering walls, narrow canyons, and flat, sandy plateaus. You are now in Navajo Nation territory, home to the largest tribal nation in the US.

When you arrive in Page, hike to spectacular Horseshoe Bend, a curve in the canyon encircled by green-streaked blue waters along the Colorado River. Have your camera ready, as this is one of the most photographed views in the world. Next stop is at Glen Canyon Dam, home to the second-largest artificial lake in the country.

Refuel with a turkey sandwich box lunch before you move on to your final destination, the majestic Cathedral Canyon. Stare in awe as you hike through stunning rock formations including Cathedral Hall and the Four Sisters—a stunning ending point before you head back to your Sedona hotel.
