NE DC Townhouse

Came to DC for a family vacation. Townhouse has 3 bedrooms and 2.5 baths. The Jack & Jill bathroom on the second floor was convenient. The kids enjoyed having their own bedrooms. Complex is quiet and safe. Parking space is close to unit. The townhouse location provides easy access to public transportation allowing you to avoid the notorious downtown DC traffic and lack of public parking near the most popular attractions.

Happy Travelers

Our family appreciated and loved our stay at this DC Gem! We were busy checking out the DC sites all day and appreciated the clean and well-stocked place to call home here. We enjoyed dinner and a movie after long days of adventures! We highly recommend this location and property for a family adventure in DC.

Good Stay

We had a good time in Washington and the host was helpful. However, the bed in the two bedrooms on first floor were not comfortable, the headboard kept making noise and we could not sleep. Some basic items like Shampoo were missing , we missed it in the property description.

Worse place to rent

I did not enjoy my stay here. I stayed with a couple of friends for my birthday. I was always getting the complaint that we stepped too hard on a three story townhouse. The owner never communicated that there were elderly people living downstairs. I thought this was the house for the perfect getaway with a couple of friends and we did not even want to stay there even the first day. We left the premises each day for the whole day because we came to the conclusion that if we stepped too hard or played music at a reasonable sound the elderly neighbors would call the police as it happened multiple times. My girls and I received poor accommodations in terms of hospitality because it was as though we weren’t paying for what we actually paid for.

DCGem in February

We enjoyed our stay. There was ample space for our party of four, and when I needed my own quiet time, I just retreated to the third floor. Anyone with mobility issues, however must be aware that the MBR is on the third level and the other two are on the second level. So there are plenty of stairs that must be navigated.

Bad news

We arrived and checked in. TV did not work, cable bill was not paid. Bus trip was very long to metro. Next night my kids found bed bugs. Scary. Gin shots in the middle of the night. Needless to say we left Also. The dishwasher was leaking all over the floor

DC Gem was great!

We loved the layout of the place. Neighborhood was quiet and safe. Lots of goodies and supplies were greatly appreciated. Only complaint is size (all small doubles and we are big people) and comfort of beds (sink down in the middle). Perfect for families without any physical issues (bathroom on second floor) and older kids (parents get their own floor!). Easy access to DC, we rented a car and appreciated the devoted parking space!

Girls weekend getaway!

We had a great time at the property, it was clean and we LOVED the goodie basket! It had everything we needed. 3 bedrooms with double beds and even a bathroom or powder room on every floor, important for 4 girls staying together! Thank you for the fast response time to needed battery replacement. I would recommend for anyone wanting a place near the city center.

This townhouse - known as the DCGem - is every bit a gem! The house was immaculate, and everything we could possibly need was provided for us. Lenya Perkins is the quintessential host - her graciousness and generosity is unmatched! We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and will stay again if we travel to DC.

The town home was located just 3 miles from our family. It was wonderful to be so close. Lenya had everything we would ever need plus a bowl of oranges to greet us. Lenya was very friendly. We would definitely stay there again.

“A Gem” indeed

We were very pleased with the accommodations. The unit is very spacious and had all necessary amenities. The owner provided a notebook with info related to the unit as well as nearby restaurants and other places of interest. The welcome basket, fresh fruit, cold water and chocolates added a special touch.

Lovely home in a quiet neighbourhood.

Stayed April 23 to 28, 2018 in DC Gem. Lots of room, property was clean and inviting. The cabinetry is tired and dated in the kitchen and bathrooms. Lots of nice perks in the gift basket such as laundry detergent, toothbrushes, razors etc. Apples and oranges in the fridge. Beds were comfy, lots of fluffy towels. There is hand soap, lotion, shampoo and cream rinse in the bathrooms. Costco is a 20 min walk. There isn’t much to see in this area. It’s a 20 minute Uber ride to the heart of Washington which cost us $15 each way daily. Bus and metro service from this area is a bit difficult to figure out. We would recommend this property if you want a great home base to see the sites that Washington has to offer.

Amazing

I have booked properties for over 20 years using vrbo. I have never experienced a place or owners like this one. They really go all out to make the renters feel at home. I walked into a basket of fruit, a welcome basket of toiletries and cleaning stuff. I was in amazement of the way they welcome their guests. The place was located in a quiet and peaceful area. I will recommend this place to anyone who wants to visit Washington DC. My words can't even start to describe our families experience. Thank you for the warm and wonderful heart warming time.

Quiet neighborhood, easy access to downtown D.C., clean home

Our overall experience was quite good. We brought some mechanical issues to the owners: dishwasher that leaked, a couple non-working bathroom outlets, one toilet that kept partially flushing every few minutes. But had everything we needed for a week-long vacation in Washington DC.

Great location! Very quiet and spacious!

Ms.Perkins left us everything we needed to enjoy our Washington stay. The location is near Metro Bus stops. 3 story townhouse with master on top floor and 2 bedrooms on second floor. Full kitchen with everything you need.

DC Gem is really a little gem

My family and I enjoyed our stay in this home. The owners went out of their way to make our stay special with flowers, cake, fruit and chocolates, coffee upon our arrival. I loved that there is a dishwasher and washer/dryer available for our stay. Kids loved their own room and shared bathroom. We liked our master bedroom on the top floor. Would definitely stay again and will recommend this unit to our family and friends.
