Nightmare in Harbor Isle
As so many folks rely on VRBO reviews to choose their rentals, it would be irresponsible of us not to share our experience with this property even though it is one we would like to forget.
We originally chose this property for the familiarity with its location as we previously lived in this neighborhood. We knew that the property was dated but it had a lot of nice features like a private in-ground pool and backyard access to the bay with kayaks providing easy access to Weedon Preserve. The house is more than adequate for a family and as long as everything was clean, we would be very happy for our month-long stay.
However, what we encountered upon arrival was simply put, unacceptable. At the entrance to the house was a non-functioning fountain full of green slime. The front door frame was covered in black mold. Upon entering the house, the living room couch looked like someone had been sleeping on it with pillows and cushions disheveled. Paint was peeling from the ceiling in the kitchen. The pool deck had obviously not been checked for an extended period of time as there were weeds growing from its expansion cracks and was cluttered with dirt/debris, random pieces of pool equipment, brooms, etc. that should have been properly stored.
It was apparent that no one had visited or stayed on the premises for a long time.
We arrived around 4pm and after bouncing between a VRBO call center in Timbuktu and the Property Management Company for 3 hours, we received a full refund.
