Two family Carmel trip
The house is a bit of a contradiction. Beautiful location, views, huge property, very clean. I'm sure it was a stunner in her early years, but...Very dated building, but with new furniture and appliances. A lot of paint was covering old walls and really old window frames. Heating systems are my biggest complaint: inconsistent, too hot in one room, cold in another, and very cold downstairs. Some window shades were broken and sagging. Electrical had obviously been redone, and switches were in strange places.The kitchen has the bare minimum of amenities. We stayed four nights and had exactly four dishwasher pods.We ended up washing dish towels because there were only three. This seems like a home that expects you to go to restaurants - cooking supplies were very limited, and the BBQ did not have a drip pan and only kitchen spatulas, no BBQ tools.That said, we enjoyed our trip and our hosts were friendly and responsive. If the kitchen was more well stocked and the heat was tolerable, it would have been a 5 all around.
