Spacious family retreat

Perfect for our group of 3 adults, 3 children. Bedrooms and beds were stylish, warm, cozy and comfortable. We loved the spacious living/dining/kitchen area surrounded by pretty views of trees and a huge sofa with room for everyone to watch a movie. The house is as it seems in photos- not everything is new, , but it is all cozy, clean and in a great location. We’d be delighted to go back. And property manager was responsive with a few small questions we had.

Unfortunately I wouldn’t rent this again. Even after confirming with owner, the gas grill would not heat enough to cook our planned steak dinner, TV remote didn’t work causing this unusable, roof leaked, and overall place very dated and musty. Owner responsive, but not overly helpful, booked 2 nights and decided to leave after one. Felt like we paid a premium price for this location.

Comfortable cabin

Cabin has a lot of great character inside with the big great room and the spiral staircase. Plenty of living space. Kitchen very well stocked. The patios and outdoor area needs attention - better chairs, a good power washing, all of the spider webs cleared out, etc. Beds are good. Nice laundry room. Downstairs tv doesn’t work well due to connection issues. Bathrooms are small but doable. Parking and location are good.

Loved it

We just loved it. There was everything available in house. And the house is so neat tidy, there was nothing to be unsecured about. The ambiance and vibe is so interesting and calming. Just didn’t feel like leaving so soon. Definitely worth the money. Many thanks to the management

Disappointed and waste of money

Where do I start? We got there around 8pm after a 4 hr drive. We were about to prepare dinner and saw the dishes were either oily, still had food stains or dusty, property was dusty, bedsheets appeared either dirty or dusty, cobwebs on the wall (and no it wasnt a halloween decor), no dish soap except for 4 washer pods,so we had to make use of the 1/4 of a bottle of handwashing soap and papertowels to wash the dishes since we didn't have time to put those in the washer and wait so we could eat soon enough (we had a 3 yr old in tow).We also washed the sheets and ended up sleeping late bc we had to wait for those to be done. Grill was very dirty and rusty so we ended up wasting money on items we didnt use. Owner told us somebody was going to come by the next day to bring us new soap but that didnt happen. In the end they rectified the situation by telling us to leave the dirty dishes on the day we check out. We had no choice anyways bc there really was no soap to clean those with. I know it's not the owner's fault but they could use a little checking behind the cleaners bc at the end of the day, it's their rental and not the cleaners. Mind you my standards for cleanliness isn't even up there, but please make sure that your renters get their money's worth. Been to several other rentals and this one was a huge let down.

Cozy cabin

Lovely stay! Spent my birthday weekend here went skiing and visited local wineries nearby. Very cozy cabin and very spacious. Check in was simple and i felt very prepared prior to arrival.

Your home was a wonderful place to connect with family during JMU Family Weekend! The stairs were challenging fur the grandparents in our party (especially the bottom step) but we were grateful for a warm, dry relaxing cabin.

Great location

Wonderful 4 days in the woods, excellent location, living room and kitchen were large and very clean, all bedrooms downstairs in basement, with 2 full bathrooms down there too. Although we enjoyed our stay this home needs a deep cleaning. There is a musty odor in the bedrooms and and an overpowering odor in the downstairs bathroom. The water pressure is terrible making a shower very uncomfortable. I understand it is an older cabin, but renovations are needed

Cozy Mountain Cabin

Super cute and cozy ski themed cabin just outside Massanutten Ski Resort. Kitchen is well equipped and even included coffee pods, a bottle of wine, and snacks. Home was very clean and well maintained. Perfect for a weekend getaway. Host called before arrival to provide details and answer any questions. 5 out of 5 stars.

Gem in the Blue Ridge Mountains

Looking for a clean, comfortable, cozy cabin that's conveniently located to historical sites, vineyards and other must-see spots? Stay here! Nestled in the hills of the Massanutten Resort, this safe, private cabin is a perfect resting spot for families looking to explore the area. The hosts welcomed us with a delicious basket of goodies, suggestions of things to do in the area and a beautiful property that we looked forward to returning to each evening. The shared spaces are amazing, the beds are made for a good night's sleep and the outdoor spaces would be perfect in warmer weather. We'll definitely be back!

Family ski trip for teenage kids

Absolutely awesome

This is an amazing place. Very clean. Great living area. Puzzles and games to keep it fun. Smart TV with Netflix. Absolutely everything you would need. We were there a day after our regular check in due to busy schedule. Even though the check out was at 10am, with just ones text, the owner gave us a full day extended check out. Very nice and welcoming. Definitely on our list of go again locations.

Fix the problems! Upgrade this precious gem!

The house is lovely; WONDERFUL GREAT ROOM! Cozy and comfortable bedrooms. It could be the perfect 'lodge' as it's charming and bursting with character, however, some serious maintenance needed. The upper level fireplace didn't vent properly and caused eye burning gas and head-ache type smell in lower level master bedroom fireplace. In addition, it filled the living area with smoke (and yes the flue was open). We had to open all the windows and stay outside for about 4hrs cause the smoke was burning our eyes. Thankfully the temperature was in the 40's not 30's. There was a propane outside heater, but it didn't work. Construction: The 2nd day, we woke up to a bird flying around the living room. It came from a gap in the ceiling and main beam by the fireplace. It was visible off and on but mostly stayed perched inside the hole in the ceiling. Plumbing: There was mold above the master bathroom door jam. Whenever the shower was on or the dishwasher running, water drips from the top of the door jam to the floor. One last thing: we chose this place because it advertised a sauna and booked it 3 months in advance. Four days before our arrival, the owner contacted us and said the sauna wasn't working and "hadn't been for weeks". As upsetting and disappointing as that was, we still remained excited about the rustic setting and our choice. The place is special - a real gem -a true getaway....but the problems were disconcerting: plumbing leaks, smoke not ventilating, bird in the ceiling, broken sauna (electrical problem?) End result - cannot recommend it as is. If the owner fixed all of the problems, then this would be a 5 star marvelous retreat. Until then, don't stay there.
