The house and location was beautiful. Great space, great views, great finishes, etc. My family (spouse + 3 kids) + parents visiting from out of town were looking for a home base for two nights near Mount St Helens to take a break from Seattle.
The house is ~45 minutes from the closest restaurant / store, and ~60 minutes off the interstate. Nobody in our group had Verizon cell phone coverage, but we could access the home Starlink wifi once we arrived.
Based on the check-in instructions, there were supposed to be two access road gates each with a lock box holding a key. When we arrived, both gates were open and neither had a key. Based on messages with the owner, the cleaner *may* have taken the keys and left the gates open. Once you arrive at the house, all the doors were open, and it was not possible to lock them without keys--which was odd given we were so remote.
For that reason, we packed all of our belongings in the car when we left for the second day. Unfortunately when we got about a mile down the road (no more connectivity), the gate was now locked, but the lockbox which I opened with the provided code was still empty. We were literally trapped until a fire inspector happened to let us out. I messaged the owner asking for a refund for the second night given we could not risk coming back. She offered to have a neighbor let me in (no connectivity though?), but then stopped replying.
