Shame on Hotels for advertising this as 11.67 miles from Hopewell Rocks. It takes over an hour to get there. Aside from that, the Inn was obviously beautiful in its day but Room 5 in the Carriage House was unclean, unpleasant and dangerous with cords trailing into the room. There is a wooden tray under the bathroom mirror that has toothpaste and other stains, a rusted heater near the tub where water pools, chipping plaster on the bathroom ceiling, loose wooden flooring at the entrance to the bathroom and dust webs hanging inside the valances over the bed. If we had more time, I would have asked for a room change. I saw no pool so would question that. The gardens, like the Inn, must have been nice in their day. When we asked if dinner was served, the owner stated, not tonight, maybe tomorrow. There is no breakfast served. Although I'm sure he's a nice person, the owner made a comment to us about feeling like the inn is running them. The whole experience made me feel very sad. There is not 24 hour desk coverage. You must ring a bell and wait. After reading other reviews about waiting, I left the key on the desk on the way out and hoped for the best. Perhaps staying in the main house is better. I should have brought these items to the owner's attention but the owner also should not place people in a room in this condition. I was tempted to not review this at all but I don't want others to be disappointed. Next time, I'll pay more attention to the reviews.
