The staff was friendly. The hotel has been recently (more or less) renovated. I stayed there a decade ago and it is much nicer now. I got a room with a bathtub and had a good, long hot bath. Everything was fine.

We stayed for one night so we would be near the San Diego Safari Park and it was perfect! Niel at the front desk was very nice and although we checked in at almost 10pm he put us in a very accessible room near the elevator and helped us to get a handicap spot close to that elevator. Breakfast was served from 8am - 10am and was very good although for our schedule we had hoped to eat at 7:30 so we could be at the park before 9, but it all worked out and we had a perfect day at the park also!

The inside of the hotel was very nice and decent but the outside wallway was dirty, going thru the parking lot is yes lose durt and holes. We feel insecure because the hotel was far from the street.

Inside was newly remodeled. Outside needs a lot of help. The parking lot is in serious need of repaving. There is a canal that runs on part of the perimeter and across from that large groups of people gather in the morning and play loud music. I asked the desk what that is about and they said they had no idea it was happening and suggested it might be a big party. I was thinking they were waiting to find work or be picked up for it. SIgnage and lighting is very poor. I arrived in the dark and there is a counterintuitive way to get into the hotel property that is not indicated in navigation instructrions. It is virtually impossible to figure it out unless you know what you are doing. If they would just direct people who are coming for the first time, it would be better. Also, their touted hot breakfast does not being til 8:30!!! And there is nowhere to sit and eat it!! It is all to-go. I could not stay til 8:30 as I had an appointment. I saw that many people had also left. It felt as though they were purposely starting late so that they did not have to provide many breakfasts. Be upfront ahead of time about those circumstances. Nice front desk people, though. They don't make jthe rules. No manager Ralph in sight.

This was a very well decorated and renovated hotel room. I was very impressed with the devir and the floors were updated very nice and clean. The room overall was a 10 out of 10 for me just being a budget hotel. I thoroughly enjoyed my stay. The staff was welcoming and patient as this was my first trip to California coming from Connecticut. I will definitely be back in the future.

Surprisingly nice place for the price. However, free breakfast is from 8:30 to 10:00, which is fairly ridiculous for anyone who needs to start the day early.
