What you can expect

With over 160 wax sculptures, snap photos and interact with wax-likenesses of historic figures such as Ponce de Leon, Albert Einstein, and Princess Diana. Befriend celebrities like Michael Jordan and Angelina Jolie. Then imagine you are on the film set with Harry Potter and his companions.

After taking a childhood trip to London, founder George L. Potter became inspired and captivated by the life-like wax figures he saw at Madame Tussaud's. Using this inspiration to fuel his dreams, he set out to create a similar wax attraction of his own.

In 1947, Potter began contracting with GEMS of London, a noted wax studio, to create one-of-a-kind figures for his St. Augustine museum by employing the expertise of artists from all over Europe. This meant getting the best of the best, no matter its origin. He imported wax from France, hair from Italy, and set the sculpting of the figures in Belgium. By 1949, Potter's Wax Museum opened its doors, becoming the first wax museum in the United States.

During your visit to the museum, take as many photos as you'd like of or with the figures. Their life-like faces and poses make for amazing opportunities for creative poses with them, and these pictures are sure to be among your favorite memories of your trip to St. Augustine.
