The nation’s largest mall lives in Bloomington and that’s reason enough for families and shopping fans to visit this little town, just outside the Twin Cities. Inside the 38 square miles that make up Bloomington, there is plenty to do. The mall itself could fill an entire week’s worth of plans, with more than 500 stores, over 50 restaurants, and Nickeloden Universe within its doors. Shop Mall of America<\/strong><\/h2>\n\"\"\n

The largest retail shopping mall in the nation, you could spend a week wandering its halls. Inside the massive structure lie 500 shops\u2014including anchors Macy’s and Nordstrom\u2014plus, more than 50 restaurants, an aquarium, and an amusement park. Located on the first floor, Nickelodeon Universe has 24 amusement park rides sure to please kids of all ages. The aquarium can be found in the basement of the mall and is the perfect activity for a super hot or extremely frigid day.<\/p>\n

Have a thrilling time at the mall’s Nickelodeon Universe<\/strong><\/h2>\n

An amusement park, in a mall? You’d better believe it. Located inside the Mall of America, you’ll find 27 attractions, including 24 rides that are sure to delight and thrill. One highlight is the SpongeBob Square Pants Rock Bottom Plunge roller coaster. Nickelodeon Universe is designed for kids of all ages, so you’ll be able to find entertainment for the entire family.<\/p>\n

Peep underwater life at Sea Life Aquarium at MOM<\/strong><\/h2>\n\"\"\n

The amusement park isn’t the only major family attraction housed inside the mall. This 1.2-million gallon aquarium is tucked in the basement of the Mall of America. It is really a killer aquarium experience, with tunnel-style tanks you walk through, making you feel as though you’re swimming with the sharks. Kids will receive a passport at the beginning and can stamp it themselves at each amazing exhibit. Your kids will love feeding the rays and reaching in the chilly waters to gently touch the starfish. Bask in nature at Hogback Ridge Pond<\/strong><\/h2>\n\"\"\n

When you need a break from the plethora of indoor attractions Bloomington has to offer, head over the Hog Ridge Pond. This scenic little pond lies next to Long Meadow Lake, along the shores of the Minnesota River. It\u2019s part of the Minnesota Valley National Wildlife Refuge and the perfect place to take the kids for a little outdoor adventure. Take the family fishing or scour the shores for turtles and waterfowl. The trail from the parking lot to the pond is less than one mile, so it\u2019ll get the kids moving without being over-the-top exhaustive!<\/p>\n

Cool down at Cedarcrest Park Splashpad <\/strong><\/h2>\n

Who doesn’t love a splashpad? On a hot summer day there’s nothing like letting the kids loose to be sprayed by water and cooled off. This splashpad in East Bloomington is a favorite of locals because it’s completely open, meaning there is no ledge to step over. Bikes can ride though it, and there are no tripping hazards.
