The world is a wonderful canvas for those who enjoy photography. We are thrilled to have one of our well-traveled Gnomads, Mike Shubic of MikesRoadTrip.com<\/a>, share some of his thoughts on places that inspire photography.<\/em><\/p>\n

Everyone is a photo taker today, thanks to the convenience of the iPhone. But for those who truly have a passion for travel photography, the following destinations will inspire you to get creative.<\/p>\n

Raja Ampat, Indonesia<\/strong><\/h3>\n\"Raja\n

The remote archipelago of Raja Ampat<\/a> is something straight out of an episode of the ’70s T.V. show Fantasy Island. This splendid destination is not a fantasy, however, although it does require an arduous journey to get there. The incredible photographic opportunities are both above and below the surface of the water. Diving and snorkeling these emerald blue waters is like being on a safari of the sea, with colors and sea life unlike any place in the world.<\/p>\n

Wild Atlantic Way, Ireland<\/strong><\/h3>\n\"Wild\n

The Wild Atlantic Way<\/a> is a stunning collection of coastal roads that run down the western side of Ireland. The tapestry that forms Ireland\u2019s landscape has taken thousands of years to weave into a masterpiece that only nature could create. Thick grassy knolls, hillsides dotted with sheep, dramatic sea cliffs and even barren landscapes will thrill photographers around each bend in the road.<\/p>\n

Cinque Terre, Italy<\/strong><\/h3>\n\"Cinque\n

Cinque Terre is a national park made up of five terraced villages located along the northwestern coast of Italy. This is one of those destinations on the bucket list of many who wish to see and photograph the colorful homes built within the dramatic sea cliffs.<\/p>\n

Monument Valley, American Southwest
\n<\/strong><\/h3>\n\"Monument\n

Monument Valley<\/a> has become one of those iconic American road trips that attract people from around the world. This area of the Southwest straddles Arizona to the south, and Utah to the north. The landscape is the canvas, and the wind is the brush which nature has used over thousands of years to carve a masterpiece that summons photographers and painters alike.<\/p>\n

Slab City, California<\/strong><\/h3>\n\"Slab\n

Slab City<\/a> is not really a city, but rather a nomadic commune of sorts. Located just outside of Palm Springs, it\u2019s a place that organically grew from the ashes (or slabs) of an old military installation. People from around the world have descended on Slab City to create a utopian world, free from traditional society restrains. What has been spawned is a creative enclave of people who make art and homes from what most would call junk. This is a place with endless photographic opportunities. Hint<\/strong>: Don\u2019t just go to Salvation Mountain, the iconic colorfully painted mound created by outsider artist and former Slab City resident Leonard Knight<\/span>; be sure to see East Jesus, the Library and other parts of the community, too.<\/p>\n

Loket, Czech Republic<\/strong><\/h3>\n\"Loket\n

Located in the western part of the Czech Republic is the 12-century hilltop village of Loket, which is considered the historical gem of Bohemia. Dominating the town\u2019s setting is Loket Castle, which was built on a massive rock overlooking the Oh\u0159e river. Strolling the streets you\u2019ll find endless photo ops, but don\u2019t miss the shots from the bridge, or while kayaking the river below.<\/p>\n

Sighisoara, Romania<\/strong><\/h3>\n\"Sigisoara\n

Located right in the middle of Romania, Sighisoara is an UNESCO site full of colorful houses, cobblestone streets and a pedestrian-friendly Old Town. Don\u2019t miss climbing the Clock Tower for some sweeping views.<\/p>\n

Burano, Italy
\n<\/strong><\/h3>\n\"Burano\n

Near Murano (the famous glass-blowing capital of the world), Burano\u2019s claim to fame is that by law, every house has to be painted a different color. From the colorful homes on this small Venetian island, to its famous lace-making traditions, and fishing vessels, this is a village with boundless photo ops.<\/p>\n

R\u00fcdesheim, Germany
\n<\/strong><\/h3>\n\"Rudesheim\n

R\u00fcdesheim is located in the Frankfurt Rhine-Main region, which is well known for its Riesling wine. This area of small villages along the Rhine River is very picturesque. From the unique architecture, to large stone castles and steep vineyards along the banks of the river, the medieval grandeur of R\u00fcdesheim is quite enchanting.<\/p>\n

Rajasthan, India<\/strong><\/h3>\n\"One\n

Rajasthan is located in the northwestern part of India and is full of cultural heritage, fantastic forts and opulent palaces. From intricate details, talented street performers, to colorful clothing and architecture, Rajasthan will keep your camera clicking.<\/p>\n
