Winston Churchill is back on the mind thanks to awards-bait drama The Darkest Hour<\/em>, but the only thing that will be on your mind at this WeHo charmer are resident pooches Winston and Churchill. This adorable bulldog duo loves to hang out at outdoor space Hampton Court or lounge at the rooftop pool. While in their company, it’s hard to say who’ll do the most drooling\u2014you or them. Of course, pet-friendly hospitality extends to your own dog, as well, including Winston’s Menu, a selection of doggie offerings designed by Executive Chef Anthony Keene, and also necessities like doggie bags. In Stock Island, check in at the chic Perry Hotel<\/a>, which has been the talk of the town since its 2017 opening and just won’t let sleeping dogs lie. Humans, meanwhile, will appreciate the hotel’s close proximity to SOHO shopping and we for one love that it’s within walking distance of cronut factory Dominique Ansel. Yum!<\/p>\n

This oceanfront icon of brilliant orange turrets and high spires is famous for inspiring L. Frank Baum’s vision of the Land of Oz (the author was a frequent guest), but the Toto-approved “Hotel Del”<\/a> is celebrated among animal owners\u2014of both dogs and cats\u2014for its pet-friendliness. Amenities include treats upon arrival, optional pet walking, sitting, grooming and vet services, a gourmet menu of woof worthy and purr<\/em>-fectly palatable meals, food bowls, place mats, scratch pads and bedding, crates, collars and leashes. But its best feature is surely its ebullient “Yappy Hour,” a Sabbath day meetup where canines are given complimentary Evian water and yappatizers, while their humans sip dog-inspired cocktails. Virgin Hotel: Chicago, IL<\/strong><\/h2>\n

Anglophiles will love the first-of-its-kind Virgin Hotel Chicago<\/a>, which combines the cool factor of a totally modern crash pad, but with twee British touches like impeccable service and guestrooms called chambers. Dogs will love it, as well. Pets stay for free (no breed or size restrictions) and the hotel’s list of pet-menities (their words, not ours) are numerous and include pet-specific guestrooms guarded over by porcelain watchdogs, a doggie bandana featuring the Virgin logo and all the requisite necessities like food and water dishes, and a cozy dog bed. Wait, there’s more. In close proximity to the hotel is expansive Grant Park which contains Grant Bark Park and its 18,000 square feet of unleashed canine nirvana within it.<\/p>\n

Cavallo Point: Sausalito, CA<\/strong><\/h2>\n

Not for the faint of pocketbook, Cavallo Point<\/a>‘s many luxuries are arguably worth it. For humans, there’s the stunning Marine County location just steps away from the Golden Gate Bridge and offering unbelievable San Francisco views; a mix of historic and contemporary lodgings (the latter featuring private entrances, gas fireplaces and floor-to-ceiling windows) and an on-site cooking school plus Chef’s Counter (a three-hour, private dining experience for up to six guests). Their pet program is kind of a BFD (big furry deal). The Eco Luxe Pups Program features custom food and water bowls by Sausalito Pottery, organic treats from Saute 2000 and Lucky Dogs Bakery, bedding and close proximity to off-leash Remington Dog Park and Rodeo Beach.<\/p>\n

The Kimpton brand extends coast to coast, but we’re particularly excited about the Hotel Born<\/a> due to its location inside Denver’s renovated Union Station\u2014a new downtown hub for shopping, drinking, dining and entertainment.<\/p>\n\"\"\n

El Portal: Sedona, AZ<\/strong><\/h2>\n

Is your pooch looking for a contemplative place to “paws” and reflect? Get her to El Portal<\/a>, a dog-friendly haven in the heart of Arizona’s spiritual mecca. Owners Steve and Connie Segner (who both have backgrounds in the pet food and care industry) unleash numerous dog-centric perks like a pet welcome basket featuring bedding, toys and treats. Several rooms have fenced-in patios, but all guests and their pooches are welcome to take advantage of the more than 1,000-square feet of outdoor common areas designed with pets in mind. Even if you decided it was best for your pooch to sit this vacation out, dog lovers can still hang with resident canines Dexter and Oliver.<\/p>\n
