We&#8217;ve partnered with family travel expert Meagan Wristen from <a href=\"http:\/\/www.MommyTravels.net\">Mommy Travels<\/a> to get her recommendations on what to do in Cancun.<\/p>\n<p> Cancun is such a lively place to take a vacation with anyone, for any occasion. In fact, there is so much to do while you are there it can become a task trying to figure out&nbsp;which tour to book or what&nbsp;spot is really worth a visit. That\u2019s where Travelocity comes in. Myself and many of the other Gnational Gnomads went to Cancun and experience first hand the tours and experiences they offer in Cancun and the surrounding areas.<\/p>\n<p> <img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-15955\" src=\"https:\/\/www.travelocity.com\/inspire\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/01\/Tulum.jpg\" alt=\"Tulum Ruins\" width=\"1280\" height=\"768\" \/>No matter what you do while in Cancun visiting Mayan Ruins is a must. Cancun is near quite a few places with ruins like Chichen Itza, one of the largest Mayan cities that may have even&nbsp;been one of the mythical great cities. I personally recommend visiting the ruins of Tulum. What sets Tulum apart is the wall surrounding the city. Most Mayan cities did not have a wall. The whole place is stunning, especially the two beaches down below the ruins. One of the beaches is open to the public and one of the most beautiful beaches I&#8217;ve ever seen. Other than the large set of stairs down to the beach I found these ruins to be more accessible than others I have visited. I wore tennis shoes anticipating a more physical experience. What I found instead was fairly flat ground and a simple stroll simple enough for a pair of flip flops.<\/p>\n<p> <img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-15953\" src=\"https:\/\/www.travelocity.com\/inspire\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/01\/cenote.jpg\" alt=\"cenote\" width=\"1280\" height=\"768\" \/>Another must while in Cancun is going to swim in a cenote or two. What is a cenote you may be wondering? A cenote is a naturally made swimming hole created when limestone bedrock collapses. Currently my favorite is the Gran Cenote in Tulum, not far from the Tulum ruins. These sink holes are really cool to explore and swim in. Be sure to take your own towel, snorkel gear and a waterproof camera.<\/p>\n<p> I recommend taking this <a href=\"http:\/\/www.anrdoezrs.net\/links\/7879036\/type\/dlg\/https:\/\/www.travelocity.com\/things-to-do\/tulum-cenote-half-day-tour.a416917.activity-details?srp=true&amp;location=Cancun,%20Quintana%20Roo,%20Mexico&amp;startDate=03\/24\/2017&amp;endDate=04\/02\/2017\">half a day trip on Travelocity that will take you to Tulum, swimming at the beach there and swimming at a cenote<\/a>. One of the perks of doing a day trip like this is the guided tour of Tulum. Despite lots of signage through out the ruins unless you can read Spanish you are out of luck. I learned so much while our guide walked us around explaining the history of the Mayan people and the structures.<\/p>\n<p> <img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-15952\" src=\"https:\/\/www.travelocity.com\/inspire\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/01\/Cozumel.jpg\" alt=\"Shopping in Cozumel\" width=\"1280\" height=\"960\" \/>There are quite a few places to take a&nbsp;fun day trip, including heading over to Cozumel. Cozumel is Mexico\u2019s 3<sup>rd<\/sup> largest island and home to an amazing barrier reef. To get there you can book a <a href=\"http:\/\/www.anrdoezrs.net\/links\/7879036\/type\/dlg\/https:\/\/www.travelocity.com\/things-to-do\/cozumel-day-trip.a274523.activity-details?srp=true&amp;location=Cancun,%20Quintana%20Roo,%20Mexico&amp;startDate=03\/24\/2017&amp;endDate=04\/02\/2017\">Cozumel day trip on Travelocity<\/a>. They will pick you up at your hotel and take you to Playa Del Carmen where you can ride the ferry over to the island.&nbsp;&nbsp;Once you are they you can partake in all kinds of fun activities like snorkeling. Or if you want something more low-key you can go shopping.<\/p>\n<p> <img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-15954\" src=\"https:\/\/www.travelocity.com\/inspire\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/01\/cooking-class.jpg\" alt=\"cooking class\" width=\"1280\" height=\"768\" \/>One activity that is always unique when traveling in a foreign country is taking a cooking class. While we were in Cancun we took a cooking class and learned to make authentic guacamole and salsa on the beach. <a href=\"http:\/\/www.anrdoezrs.net\/links\/7879036\/type\/dlg\/https:\/\/www.travelocity.com\/things-to-do\/mi-cocina-es-tu-cocina-mexican-cooking-class.a189643.activity-details?srp=true&amp;location=Cancun,%20Quintana%20Roo,%20Mexico&amp;startDate=03\/24\/2017&amp;endDate=04\/02\/2017\">Travelocity has cooking classes in Cancun<\/a> you can book. Next time I want to learn to make tortillas.<\/p>\n<p id=\"firstHeading\" class=\"firstHeading\" lang=\"en\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.travelocity.com\/things-to-do\/search?location=Isla+Mujeres%2C+Quintana+Roo%2C+Mexico&amp;startDate=2017-03-24&amp;endDate=2017-04-02\">Isla Mujeres <\/a>is a quick 40 minute boat ride from Cancun and an excellent way to spend a day. On the island you will find a variety of things to do including swimming with whale sharks, seeing Mayan ruins, visiting the turtle sanctuary and snorkeling at&nbsp;Garafon park.<\/p>\n<p> <img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-15957\" src=\"https:\/\/www.travelocity.com\/inspire\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/01\/Cancun-2.jpg\" alt=\"party in cancun\" width=\"1024\" height=\"768\" \/>I cannot write an article on Cancun with out mentioning the sensational nightlife. I mean it&#8217;s the go to spring break destination for college students for reason. <a href=\"http:\/\/www.anrdoezrs.net\/links\/7879036\/type\/dlg\/https:\/\/www.travelocity.com\/things-to-do\/coco-bongo-cancun-vegas-style-show-nightclub.a189647.activity-details?srp=true&amp;location=Cancun,%20Quintana%20Roo,%20Mexico&amp;startDate=03\/24\/2017&amp;endDate=04\/02\/2017\">Coco Bongo<\/a>&nbsp;located in the party zone is one of the most popular night clubs with one price covering admission and all of your drinks. While you dance with friends you will be entertained by acrobats, dancers, and other&nbsp;Vegas type performances.<\/p>\n<p> I could keep going, but this should be enough to keep you busy for many days.
