We&#8217;ve partnered with lifestyle blogger Tesa Nicolanti from the blog <a href=\"http:\/\/www.2wired2tired.com\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">2 Wired 2 Tired<\/a>, as she takes us to her favorite stops around town.&nbsp;<\/em><\/p>\n<p>East Lansing, Michigan holds a special place in my heart. Both my parents went to Michigan State University and loved it so much they took my sister and I there for weekend trips growing up. We would visit the city to do some shopping, sightseeing, and dining and we would roam the campus looking at all the beautiful flowers, gardens, and architecture and feed the ducks (one of my favorite memories!).<\/p>\n<p>In college I spent a semester at MSU.&nbsp;I stayed very busy and, being older, gained even more of an appreciation of all there is to do on campus and around town. The area is ever evolving and there are always new shops, stores, restaurants, and attractions that I look forward to trying out the next time we are there.<\/p>\n<p>That\u2019s why, as a Travelocity Gnational Gnomad, I\u2019m excited to share my favorite<strong>&nbsp;<\/strong>hidden gems in East Lansing, Michigan.<\/p>\n<h3><strong>Le Bon Macaron<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>Fairly new to the area, opening in 2014,&nbsp;<a href=\"http:\/\/lebonmacaron.com\/contact\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Le Bon Macaron<\/a>,&nbsp;is the place to be for macaroons of all colors and flavors. Known for their delectable macaroons in flavors such as Chocolate Salted Caramel, Coffee, Nutella, Jasmine, Honey Lavender, Margarita, as well as the classics like Chocolate, Vanilla, and Hazelnut, there is something for everyone. If you like their Facebook page, you\u2019ll see they\u2019ve brought back cream puffs too!<\/p>\n<h3><strong>Curious Book Shop<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>If you love browsing for books, the&nbsp;<a href=\"http:\/\/www.curiousbooks.com\/index.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Curious Book Shop<\/a>, is a treasure trove of over 50,000 books, magazines, and more. The shop specializes in used and rare books and you can spend hours in here discovering out-of-print titles, sports memorabilia, vintage comic books, signed limited editions, film scripts, and so much more. With three floors to wander, respectable prices, and even a collection of new books, this bookstore is a true hidden gem that\u2019s not to be missed on your visit to East Lansing.<\/p>\n<h3><strong>Pinball Pete\u2019s<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>If you love pinball and arcade games, then this slice of history is for you.&nbsp;<a href=\"http:\/\/www.pinballpetes.net\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Pinball Pete\u2019s<\/a>&nbsp;is one of the last remaining arcades in East Lansing, and you can even play some vintage games for $0.25! With over 4,000 square feet of arcade and pinball machines (along with air hockey and skeeball), this is the perfect place to relive your childhood or introduce your kids to the classics.<\/p>\n<h3><strong>4H Children\u2019s Garden<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>If you are bringing the family to East Lansing, a visit to the charming&nbsp;<a href=\"http:\/\/4hgarden.cowplex.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">4H Children\u2019s Garden<\/a>&nbsp;is a must. The garden is free to visit and is located on the MSU campus. There are outdoor and indoor gardens with a variety of themes including: Pizza Garden, Dinosaur Garden, Storybook Garden, and more.&nbsp;I love that they encourage curiosity in both children and adults. On the Parents page of the website, they have a number of suggestions to enhance your experience including: finding Lamb\u2019s Ear and feeling the leaves, sitting on the sheep, finding Chocolate Mint and smelling it, dancing on the dance chimes, wandering through the Alice and Wonderland Maze, and more.<\/p>\n<h3><strong>MSU Dairy Store<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>There is so much goodness at the&nbsp;<a href=\"http:\/\/dairystore.msu.edu\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">MSU Dairy Store<\/a>&nbsp;that there are two locations, both on the Michigan State University Campus. They make, package, and sell ice cream and cheeses at the stores. It\u2019s not only a dairy plant, but also an educational outreach center. The cheese is remarkable with a variety of flavors. You can also find an astonishing number of ice cream flavors from favorite classics along to unique flavors including: Badger Berry Cheesecake, Gopher S\u2019more, Green Tea, Husker\u2019s Sweet Corn, White Chocolate Raspberry Swirl, and more. A visit to East Lansing should always include a stop at the MSU Dairy Store!<\/p>\n<h3><strong>Feed The Ducks On The Red Cedar River<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>One of my favorite memories as a kid was feeding the ducks on the Red Cedar River on the Michigan State University campus. The river is an iconic landmark for current and past MSU students \u2013 it\u2019s name is featured in the first line of the college fight song. Not only is it a lovely and picturesque place to feed the Mallard ducks, but students enjoy the peaceful, relaxing nature of the river and will often be found studying beside it.<\/p>\n<p>Recently the Travelocity Roaming Gnome had a chance to visit East Lansing. Here are a few photos from his trip.
