The grounds feature a private swimming pool (open mid May - mid September) with fabulous views of the surrounding woods and landscapes. Guests at Villa Gemma will appreciate the spacious and well-equipped front terrace - perfect for al fresco dinners or moments of absolute relaxation. Wooden table and chairs are available. Furnished and decorated in impeccable Italian style, the mansion is looked after by a full-time maid and a cook who will take care guest’s meals. From the hall beyond the drawing room, stairs (20 steps) ascend to the first floor. There is a handy service bathroom beneath the stairs.First Floor: To the right at the top of the stairs, the master bedroom with queen-sized bed, and a smaller, but very nice, bedroom with a French sized bed. These bedrooms share a large bathroom with tub. And to the left, a nice and bright bedroom with twin beds (that can be joined) and a double bedroom with queen-sized bed (sharing a marble bathroom with tub). A visit to one of the famous vineyards in the vicinity (such as Tenuta di Ghizzano and Tenuta di Valgiano) gives a unique opportunity to view the wine making process from beginning to end … and purchase a few bottles for the evening dinner! The weekly local market in Lucca is every Wednesday and Saturday morning, and the antique market is every third Sunday of the month.For the more active, there is excellent walking in the hills around your villa. Horse-back riding and mountain biking can also be organized, and several 18 hole golf courses are within a 30/40 minute drive. And last but not least, there is the shopping! The outlet stores near Incisa and Arezzo provide endless retail therapy opportunities, and then there are the leather goods and handmade paper that Florence is so famous for and the wonderful olive oil that is produced throughout the region.
