Take in panoramic views of the Atlantic Ocean and South Carolina coastline from one of North America’s tallest observation wheels.
Take flight on the SkyWheel Myrtle Beach and enjoy unbeatable views of the city and greater South Carolina coastline from one of 42 air-conditioned gondolas. The SkyWheel is one of the main attractions on the city’s 1.2-mile (1.9-kilometer) long Oceanfront Boardwalk and Promenade.
The wheel is 187 feet (57 meters) tall at its highest point and makes three rotations during each 10-12 minute ride, offering plenty of time to capture perfect photographs. Up to six people can fit in one gondola. If you wish to travel privately in smaller numbers, that can also be arranged upon request.
For an extra-special experience, skip the line and buy tickets for the VIP Gondola. It has glass floors, leather seats and six rotations instead of the usual three. A souvenir T-shirt is also included in the VIP package.
The SkyWheel is always a striking feature on the city skyline but it’s at its most spectacular after dark. More than 1 million colored LED lights fitted to the structure pulse for a nightly light show.
After dismounting, head to the adjacent LandShark Bar & Grille, one of three Myrtle Beach restaurants owned by musician Jimmy Buffett. The spacious restaurant is on the oceanfront, so you’ll enjoy the sea breezes and water views, plus a fun, relaxed atmosphere. Head to the bar and try Buffett’s signature beer Landshark Lager or one of several signature cocktails. There are plenty of other drinking and dining options within walking distance in both directions along North Ocean Boulevard.
Next door, the LandShark SurfShack sells SkyWheel and LandShark Lager merchandise. The SkyWheel is located on Ocean Boulevard, and is open daily. Hours of operation are subject to seasonal variations, so check the website or phone ahead. Purchase tickets at the wheel or online.
