Rare Gem

Pros: The attention to detail of the layout, design, services, and the manner in which activities are executed. This is a simple place with rich offerings.
Cons: More English speaking staff. Construction at the time of our stay removed the 'quiet' and peace we came to enjoy. This is not a place for children.
Location: Middle of nowhere. Not much outside the property.
With intention and purpose we had a very profound experience here. This is a place you can 'turn off' and tune in. Or be bored out of your mind. We did not rent a car purposely, so as to be on 'retreat'. So we were on the premises for a week and found the respite we needed. There's not much to do outside the property (nerby), it's in the middle of nowhere and the village that may be within walking distance is truly local with only shops for essentials. This place is for those who are already drawn to mystical lifestyle and spiritual practices. It's perfect for anyone on a spiritual path. I highly suggest indulging in a Temezcal ceremony. I had a wonderful massage, and supplied my own pure essential oils and instructed the therapist how to work with me, which was a bonus and truly complete for my needs. My husband asked for a deep tissue/shiatsu massage and didn't find it near par with what we are used to experiencing. You must know Spanish in a way to truly feel at home. Most of the servers do not speak English, but the front desk does. You can not enter the Ashram unless the Shaman is there (and offers a group meditation). So this is a bummer to not be able to enter this sacred space to meditate on your own. Lots of things to discover on the property that you may overlook -- like the tiny cave-like room in which a single person can sit in damp darkness to meditate... I suppose, but it's right off the kitchen and you can hear clanging of dishes constantly. We will return.
