I felt that there was limited snacking and dining options. Very hard to make reservations for dining. Long lines for the buffet. They shut down for 1.5 hours so no options for food. Room service never answers the phone. Staff are polite but not helpful. The jungle is very nice but the resort and amenities are not great. It’s getting run down. The tennis court and pickleball are very nice. The nightly entertainment is limited.

Very inconsistent staff knowledge, spoke to multiple people that had very little information on how to book Ala Cartes, hours of buffet, etc. Availability of food to volume of people was horrible; lines every where you looked, just an absolute mad house at the buffet. You are lucky to eat at the ala cartes the entire visit to avoid the crowds. They advertise 24/7 room service but if you even get a chance to order it at all, it will arrive 2-3 hours later and be incorrect. Not a great experience for the price

We loved the resort, plenty to do. Easy to get a beverage. Wait staff, concierge and transportation staff was great. Guest services was not good. Things requested for our room never arrived. Room service was a 3 hour wait. Not able to get into one reservation only restaurant the whole time of our stay. Buffets get old. Guest services didn’t seem to care.

I first came to Sandos Caracol in 2018, the first time I was here it was an amazing experience, we had decided to return this week (January 2024) and it was a nightmare. We were booked in the adults only section, upon arrival on the room (6811) it smelled so bad like a musty / moldy smell which was coming from the air conditioner, the room had also advertised to have a 50” tv, not that it should matter since we are on vacation but it was barely a 32” tv. You could hardly watch anything on it, as the day went on there were ants all over the room. Then time for dinner, it was different as now everywhere except one buffet wants reservations, so we went to the buffet. From the time in line to finally sitting at the table was a 45 minute wait, food was crap. Noodles not cooked still crunchy, food not labeled so you’re guessing as to what it is and all sits out until gone. Whatever that was the first day, second day I try to make reservations for a restaurant and can’t get the website to work as the wifi is soooo crappy and barely works. I ask the front desk if I can make reservations, was told you need to make them at the little hut but they were closed for the day… great buffet again (another hour wait) finally next day was able to make one single reservation for one restaurant on the last day of my stay. Had breakfast at the Brazilian restaurant and waited a hour to get a tiny omelette and bacon. Needless to say was stuck eating at the same crappy buffet all week.
