The description for this hotel says it's been renovated in 2024. As of April 5-7, 2024 it is still in the process of being renovated. I stayed in building D which still had the old siding. The rest of the buildings were prepped for new siding. The inside of our room did not look like it had been renovated. It was clean and the beds were comfortable. One of the chairs had major scratches and stains. The bathroom fan did not work. One of the other hotel guests said their fan didn't work and another guest said their fan worked but made a horrible noise. There was a stack of debris and building materials from the demolition in an area not easily accessible to hotel guests, but very unsighlty. There were scraps of metal and wood with nails in it on the lawn in front of building D; probably blown there by the wind. Not a safe place for children to run around on the lawn. I was not at the hotel during the day. The nights were quiet. I suspect it may be noisy on weekdays when contractors are working on renovations. It isn't all bad. The hotel is located near the Columbia River and easy driving distance to downtown. The hotel staff were friendly and the floor in the lobby was beautiful. There were big paper wrapped packages in the lobby. I assume it was furniture for the lobby, which was unfurnished. I think once the renovations are done, this will be a very nice hotel. But I wouldn't recommend it for now unless you just need a place to stay at night.

Event space at this hotel measures 2964 square feet (275 square meters) and includes conference space. The business-friendly Columbia River Hotel, Ascend Hotel Collection also features barbecue grills, a picnic area, and coffee/tea in a common area. Self parking is free. A complete renovation of Columbia River Hotel, Ascend Hotel Collection was completed in January 2024. This The Dalles hotel is smoke free.
