Always wanted to stay at the Grand and yes, it was a lovely experience. Whilst the traditional look and original features are truly impressive, I did feel the hotel needed refreshing in places. In particular the room wasn't anything special, there were no refreshments available. The bar downstairs however was great, with cocktails aplenty
We booked a king room with balcony on a quiet mid week break in January. Was slightly disappointed to have been allocated an accessible room, did they not have any other rooms and allocated the accessible rooms to someone who’d requested one? Also not convinced the bed was a king size….lm sure it was a double. Anyway the sun streaming in from the French doors and the view over the sea was enough to make up for those slight niggles. Breakfast is expensive if you don’t have it included, and also attracts a £6 service charge, not sure as it’s self service that it warrants the cost, but nice for a special treat.

Lovely hotel but average inland room.
Hotel reception and lobby very impressive. The hotel room itself was very average for what you pay, the grandeur doesn't really continue into the inland rooms, I assume that is reserved for the rooms located at the front of the hotel. Biggest surprise was paying £8.44 for 1 pint of Guinness at the hotel bar, did some research and it's definitely up there as one of the most expensive pints of Guinness in the UK.
Our stay at The Grand was a little disappointing. The room was comfortable but when we were trying to get to sleep at night we couldn't because of a constant hum from a ventilation outlet just outside our window. We called reception at 2am, the night porter allowed us to sleep in a different room which was much quieter but also quite chilly. It was also on a different floor so the walk there and back without slippers was not ideal. I would have expected a night at The Grand to be better than this.

Fabulous hotel and area . The only problem was that the water didn’t drain in the bath and the shower wasn’t hot
