Enjoy your next getaway in true East Coast fashion at this charmingly rustic Wells vacation rental! Wells is a great place to vacation with its historic charm dating back to 1643. Walk or ride your bike down to the beach to splash in the water and beachcomb. Other beaches within a short drive are Drake's Island Beach, Wells Beach, and Oguniquit Beach. Wells Harbor offers kayak and paddleboard rentals, or walk around the area to browse antique shops and grab a bite to eat. Kennebunkport is about five miles northeast, has beautiful beaches, and is home to the Bush Family Compound at Walker's Point. You might get lucky enough to catch a glimpse of it on a drive by.

You and your group will adore having all the necessary home essentials along with a great waterfront location to admire from the spacious deck. Stacked on pilings right in the marsh, watch the tide roll in and out beneath the house.

Rustic but comfortable
Aptly named camp was as expected- no frills but none needed. Fine for a base to explore the coastline and sample fresh seafood. Management company very prompt with concerns- had clogged sink they had addressed that day. Would rent again

Great View & Overall Stay
We stayed 2 nights in The Artist Shack. Overall is was a great spot with beautiful views. Very clean, and well maintained. It rained a bit more than we planned for while we were there and we spent alot of time inside. The one thing that we wish was different was the furninture in the main house. It was not comfortable. The futons were awful to sit on for extended periods of time while hanging out. If there was a comfy couch - then this place would have been exceptional. Upgrade the furniture! Parking was a non-issue and very short walk. Getting up to go to sleep in the bedroom across the deck was also ok. Location to things in the area was great.

Popeye shack
The view is incredible. The place is quirky and fun, but there are issues with the electricity which need addressing immediately. We had lights on in the dining/living one evening and the switch got so hot it could have caught on fire. It was advertised as having WiFi and cable but there was none. But the location is great and the privacy unbeatable. Just needs some serious maintenance.

Quaint, unique cottage with beautiful views
Very private, with beautiful panaramic views of the delta, has a lot of charm and charactic. A little quirky in that the main space and bathroom is in a separate building from the master bedroom and loft. The loft was fun for our children, to have their own space just their size. Property management was excellent, she responded right away by phone with a couple of items we needed assistance with, and solved them immediately. Excellent service.

Great stay!
This is such a great location. Absolutely beautiful views, great breeze coming through the marsh. We were prepared that we couldn't park at the actual house, but the spots are actually a lot closer than we thought they'd be (property directly preceding the house). The house is quite rustic, so that needs to be taken into consideration when judging cleanliness. It is quite clean for everything being older wood. The only (rather minor) complaints we had: 1-the bathroom sink drain seems to be all gunked up. It didn't impact usability, but should be addressed. 2- Under amenities, this house lists "beach chairs". And this house sleeps at least 5, so you'd expect to have at least a few chairs. We couldn't find a single one (there's not too many places they could hide). I called Vacasa to see if it was stated somewhere the chairs' location. They let me know where, and we determined that someone probably took it by accident, because it's certainly not there anymore. But my bigger issue is that there was only supposed to be *one* there anyway! It listed beach chairs, plural. Since we only had 2 adults, we didn't bring any, thinking there would be a few. If there will be only one chair, for a house that sleeps 5, it should NOT be listed as an amenity. We would have brought from home and not had a problem with it. Again, minor annoyances on an otherwise fantastic stay!

Beautiful abd unique
The property is an “experience.” If you've stumbled upon the listing, then you are most likely looking for something unique and different. This place is just that. If you like the finer things in life, this is probably not for you (the word “shack” is used- for a reason). We loved staying here. The views are amazing, the shack is unique. But a few things worth mentioning….no AC. We showed up on a very hot day (over 90). It was very uncomfortable inside. We opened the windows, but still it took a good 24 hours to feel like the house was bearable. Two windows had no screens, and all screens available would have been helpful. There are 2 fans, but an additional fan would be great since there are three main rooms. The shower pressure is non existent, so if you have long hair or like pressure, take this in to consideration. Lots of bugs on the water, so be prepared. Especially where the car is parked. We are a family of 5, three small kids. The separation of rooms/bathrooms was tough at night. Also a consideration. Would be good for older kids since there is an upstairs loft room. The kitchen is tough if you’re staying for 4+ days because there’s not much space to put dried goods. Maybe remove the wine rack to allow for food storage? Other than that- the shack is clean- and very pretty inside. Loved the natural wood, wide planked floors and natural light. I think it’s a gem in the rough, with a few upgrades it could go from “cool and different” to “an amazing experience!”

Cool artisti's cottage.
This place was terrific! The marshland is a draw for Egrets and Herons and we saw quite a few. Above the bedroom is a little space with a bed which would be great for kids. We put a blowup mattress there to make it usable for a couple.

Beautiful Views!
My Family and I go to Well, ME every year and always stay at a hotel on the beach. This was the first year that we chose to change it up! We loved the view and the location was very remote which was perfect. The only snafu was that there was no AC! It was incredibly uncomfortable in the 95 degree weather. One AC in the bedroom would have changed our whole experience. We will be back next year and hopefully by then they will have an AC.
