Not What We Paid For

Pros: Nice location, good parking, and free WiFi even though they did not advertise it.
Cons: Give people the service they paid for.
Location: Near Washington D.C. and historical sites in Virginia.
We booked two rooms more than three months in advance. Each room was advertised as having two queen beds. We requested one room to have a single king bed. What we got was one room with a single king bed and the second room, also with a single king bed, but it was a handicapped room. The only change we were offered was to add a roll-away (twin size) bed to the first room. This was better than sleeping on a sofa bed, but in no way equivalent to a queen size bed. The handicapped room was a "handicap" for normal people because the mirrors were very short, and there was effectively no space in the closet to hang clothes. Sleeping accommodations are the fundamental purpose of a hotel - Westin failed us completely.

Bad location and more

This was supposed to be one of the "nicer" hotels. However, it was in a bad location behind another building, so it was hard when we called for a cab service. They could not find the hotel. Also, the hotel has a free shuttle service but when we called for the shuttle to pick us up we were told a specific time and it never showed up. When we called the hotel to see where they were they said the shuttle came and no one was there (we arrived 10 minutes early to the location to make sure we did not miss shuttle). We were told by the front desk that our only option was to call a cab. Meanwhile, we had been sitting there for 20 minutes waiting for the shuttle. Hotel breakfast was very expensive and not that good. Refrigerator in room did not work. Outlet next to bed did not work. When calling for room service I could not get through on the phone in the room. I had to call from my cell phone to only get put on hold.

Pros: Hotel was clean, beds were comfortable. Free parking.
I was a little worried after I booked, Travelocity mentioned a mandatory $30/person fee for breakfast, in my case that would have been an extra $240 for our 2 night stay, fortunately, we were not charged any additional fees other than what I paid on-line to book.

Slightly disappointed

I've stayed at quite a few Westin's. This one was just "okay". I've stayed at the one in Arlington, VA before and it's very nice, got a nice Starbucks with some snack/lite meal options available. Very nice bar & restaurant. This hotel had coffee carafes up on the bar in the restaurant. Coffee only, I had to ask for hot water for my tea. The "store" near the front desk was poorly stocked, very few options in the refrigerator for drinks. Speaking of refrigerators, the one in my room managed to turn my cold water into lukewarm water. And the water sitting up on top of the cabinet near the television had a $1.00 price tag on it and I paid $2 downstairs for a bottle of the same water cold--THEN they told me the water in the room was free now, must have had some old tags left in place. I think there are probably some better and less expensive hotel options in the Reston,VA area that I'll try next.

Classy hotel at good price

Got a wonderful deal for a last minute 1 night stay via mobile reservation & ended up getting an even better room than was booked! When asking for late checkout it was easily granted & everything about the room was very beautiful and clean. My only complaint is that the pillows were a little flimsy/not firm for my liking.

Good place for airport access

Was flying out of town the next morning so stayed at this hotel to be close for the early morning departure. Bar/lounge was well appointed and very nice. Room was decent price. The parking lot was not easy to find - it's actually behind and below the hotel, although there is some parking out in front a short walk away. Will stay here again.

Friendly staff, good food.

Pros: Quiet
Cons: No free Internet
Being more of a small-chain hotel kind of person, this place was definitely a step up from our usual. The staff was friendly, and the restaurant that was on the main level was very well set up with great food. The room, while cozy, seemed really over-priced. The internet wasn't free and the pool closes early. It wasn't a negative overall experience, but cheaper hotels with perks are definitely the way to go.
