A gem in the heart of the city

Fabulous! Great location, courteous staff, complimentary coffee in the morning and wine and snacks in the early evening. Close to many great restaurants, and literally across the street from the Gallery Place Metro and the Verizon Center. And a very reasonable price for the room. I could not have been more epleased

Great location and ambiance!

Room was beautiful! Small but fancy, it had a domed style to it and it was cozy. Best part was that you could sit in the window ledge and look out into the courtyard area where the restaurant was that was lit with strung lights! Bathroom had a built in shelving area that was very convenient. Staff was helpful and polite. My only issue is that the bathroom faucet had a very metallic, almost fishy smell to it. It was odd. Regardless, would recommend and stay again in the DC area. Very centrally located to monuments and museums, easily walkable to all.

Lousy elevator service.

Very limited room service menu. Public bathroom access is nonsensical.

Sleeping inside a basement!

Posted Nov 27, 2016 on Expedia
Halve of the hotel rooms, those with standard rates are located at the underground basement of the building, below even the lobby! Halve of the basement rooms have medium size windows from were you can see directly the feet of people that are walking up the street next to you. The other halve is even worse, they only have a foot high window next to the ceiling that opens to the inner courtyard, so not only you don't know whether it's nighttime or daytime but you get the noise from the bar located at the courtyard. We had to be moved first from a different basement room because we were given a really small one (all rooms are different and all are pretty claustrophobic) to be transfered to this other with the smallest windows ever, not even a storage room should have this little openings. The staff that we complained to was rude and even told us that we had already given the chance to change room so we shouldn't be complaining about it. And that there was nothing they could do about the basement rooms because it was a decision from the management. The hotel has a great location and vive but I would never recommend to stay here for a night unless you are fine with sleeping at the basement of an old building and paying a fairly high rate.
