Location is everything Posted Jun 29, 2015 on Hotels
As far as budget hotels goes, for near old town Alexandria I'm not sure if you could beat this hotel. It's not 5 star accommodations and it doesn't need to be. The hotel internet could have been more reliable, but it wasn't a deal breaker. The room was clean, the bed comfortable, and the AC acceptable given the summer heat. The room showed some signs of wear, scuff marks on the tile, minor damage from use. The breakfast room could get a bit crowded, but it's free breakfast and includes a hot dish such as eggs/bacon etc daily. For the rate, location, and what I expect out of a hotel (which is a comfortable place to sleep and relax in the evenings), I couldn't have been more pleased with this hotel. For travelers in the Alexandria area, the hotel does do shuttle service with Reagan airport and even old town Alexandria, which can help if you want to avoid a rental car. In cooler months, it wouldn't be infeasible to walk to old town Alexandria from the hotel. Check out the area near the Fairfax Deli (3-4 blocks away) for cheap eats for lunch/dinner.
