"We love this hotel"
My wife and I adore the Loews New Orleans. Cafe Adelaide and the swizzle stick bar are fun places where food and drink are affordable. We love that it is across the street from Harrah's.

"Decent place to lay your head"
Decided to try something different on this trip, and appreciated being in a cultural zone, but not in the midst of the French Quarter madness. The hotel is well-located and easily accessible to the streetcars. Rooms are modest, but decent. Not plush or decadent, but definitely good for a space to lay your head comfortably while you run around and explore more of what NOLA has to offer.

"Good value and location"
Overall I would recommend the Blake. I paid an average rate of $110 per night and feel it was a good value for the money. Location is good, short walk to French Quarter and on the St. Charles street car line (though it was not running when I was there). Others have complained about the parking charge, but any hotel in almost any city charges for parking, so that's not fair. The room was small, but how much room do you need in a hotel? It was clean. Front desk staff was extremely helpful and pleasant, allowing me to store my bags before and after check in. My only complaints were small: the bathroom was poorly designed and there was NO towel bar at all. NO place to hang a towel. Weird. There was no door tag for "do not disturb" provided, nor was there a note pad or pen provided, as is usually found in hotels. So I used the back of my used air boarding pass and hand wrote "do not disturb" on it and poked a hole in it and hung it on the door knob. It seemed to work for the 5 days I was there, but I was amazed that the housekeeper did not provide the missing tag when he/she saw that I had to make my own. I would stay at the Blake again.

"Great hotel near the trolly line."
We stayed here for one night stop on our way back to Houston from Florida. The hotel was in a great location near the trolly line. As a family of 6, we needed the extra space and the suite was more than enough room. They living room area was huge and separated by a door to the bedroom (2 queens). The bedroom had a wall of ceiling to floor to windows. Completely updated and new. We stayed on 6th floors rone door down from the pool. Highly recommend the 6th floor near the pool if you are traveling with kids. Breakfast was perfect, complete with waffles, eggs, sausage, donuts, etc. They also have a "happy hour" with complementary snacks and wine/beer. Free popcorn and sodas in the lobby. Staff was friendly and very helpful in directing us towards trolly line. Trolly line will take you to all the tourist spots in NOLA. Bourbon street is three blocks away. You can walk to French Quarter, but trolly is more fun and easier.

"Beautiful, great location"
The hotel is beautiful, renovated from an old chandlery with exposed brick and hardwood floors. They even have a small art gallery in the lobby. We went with no plans and the front desk helped us tremendously with all our questions. Even the maintenance guys were super friendly; as we passed by one gentleman, we ended up in conversation and got some great tips on where to go. In the morning, they have a small cafe open; the pastries and cafe au lait are delicious and highly recommend them. The bed is ridiculously comfortable and so are the pillows and linens. The hotel's restaurant, Compere Lapin, is well worth the price. Right after dinner, we made reservations for lunch for the next day! We walked everywhere from the hotel, but public transportation was very close. We were 5 minutes from the riverside trolley line that takes you to the French Quarter and French Market; the 11 bus is maybe 10 minutes away to take you up Magazine Street to the Audubon Zoo and GREAT shopping. Across the road to Mothers for lunch. If you are driving, there is a public lot across the street that seemed to always have available parking. We will definitely be back next year, but maybe not in August when it's 99 degrees.

"Worked out great for our family reunion"
For our multi-generation group of 40+ the location was great. Not in the party nightlife but easy access to much: walking distance to shopping, museums, casino, sightseeing, etc. Location was quiet and safe when we were there. The staff were wonderfully helpful and pleasant. For the authentic favor (food, jazz, historic souvenirs) of NOLA you had to leave the immediate area.
