" Michelangelo is the perfect-for-theatre-situated"
boutique hotel we've frequented several trips over the years. They've redecorated but still have the lovely lobby and marble bathrooms we remembered and are quite roomy for a heart-of-the-city hotel. It's nice that there are still Italian-speaking guests and a knowledgeable staff. Only drawback: the bedside lighting is poor for reading in bed. Otherwise, we love it, and will return!

"Cosy hotel near all the action!"
The hotel is situated near Times Square and all you had to do was step out and turn left or right and you'd find something fun to do! We came from Sweden and stayed 3 nights and we were met with incredible hospitality from the entire staff and great help and advice from the concierge

"Perfect location in Manhattan!"
We were a block from Times Square. We were very close to the subway system as well. The hotel was beautiful and the staff were very friendly and knowledgeable. The breakfast offerings awesome as well. The concierge, doormen, and housekeeping staff were so nice and helpful. They knew me by name and were very personable. The cheese/wine reception every night before dinner was delicious. The rates were competitive as well. The hotel was beautiful and timeless. There was also a nice courtyard to have coffee on.

"Outstanding value and large rooms in Midtown"
My new favorite hotel in Manhattan. Very professional staff, with personal touches in service. Perfect location from which to explore Midtown and beyond. Just a block from Times Square, but reasonably quiet. Loved it, and will definitely be back.

"Great location- the middle of all the best NYC"
The hotel is in a great location. In the theater district, blocks away from Time Square and Radio City and Rockfeller Center. The hotel is uber modern, the lobby is really trendy but the actual rooms leave a lot to be desired. They need TLC and hotel staff needs some training to make the an actual 4 star hotel. With all The above being said, I would recommend this hotel just don't expect the norm of a 4 star.

"Expressing My Appreciation & Gratitude"
My appreciation for the exemplary service I received during my recent stay at The Pearl Hotel cannot be overstated. Every staff member I met was friendly, courteous and knowledgeable. After arriving to the hotel on Friday, October 2, 2015 and the front desk staff member discovering that it was my birthday, he generously accommodated us with a king size bed and our room overlooked 49th Street. Shortly after entering our exquisite hotel room, we received a knock on our door from room service offering me a Happy Birthday complementary bottle of wine with two wine glasses. The staff went above and beyond to ensure that I enjoyed my birthday visit. Thank you again for your considerate service. I will be certain to recommend your accommodations to my friends and business associates. Sincerely, Karen Havens Plano, TX

"Oustanding Boutique Hotel"
The Chatwal exceeded my expectations in all respects. The hotel itself lives up to its rating as a 5 star. Every member of the hotel staff is exceptionally friendly and helpful. The room was very clean, comfortable, and beautifully decorated with state of the art amenities. The location is outstanding for those interested in attending Broadway shows with Times Square just a few blocks away. No complaints at all.

"Generally okay with some room for improvement"
I arrived early and check-in was easy and they had a room available for me immediately. Location is great for jumping off point to almost anywhere by foot or train. Great location if you are hanging out in Hell's Kitchen. Room was small but completely adequate for one person. I liked the front facing street view of the Belasco Theater and had the windows open most of the time I was in the room. The street noise was a little loud, but I didn't mind as I expected as much from a hotel so close to Times Square. My air conditioner leaked, and it dampened the carpet next to it. It didn't bother me so much but was concerned for the Hotel's benefit and brought their attention to it, but no one ever fixed it in the 4 days I was there. Elevators are super slow and tiny especially during noon checkout. As I was only on the 3rd floor, I used the stairs to go to the gym on 2 and up and down to the lobby. The hotel clerk warned me that the minibar was super sensitive so I stayed clear of it but was still charged for an Evian. They fixed my bill when I checked out, but it was super annoying. Also, thank God I didn't have much ironing, the ironing board was super tiny and almost unusable. The closet could have easily stored a full size ironing board. If this were a business trip, I would have been really peeved. I used the gym everyday. It was small but adequate for what I needed. Water and hand towels were made available for use. Not many peopled used the gym so it was emp

"Cool spot; caveat for non-smokers"
Very cool black-and-white decor (and Timorous Beasties wallpaper!); our room was small but well-designed and comfortable. Heavy blackout drapes were much appreciated! All staff we met, even by chance in the elevator, were friendly and helpful. One complaint: our room smelled heavily of cigarettes. We thought at first it had maybe been poorly cleaned, or that the smell was coming from somewhere else - we didn't deliberately choose a smoking room - until just before we left and found an ashtray. On checkout, the staff explained (quite apologetically) that the eighth floor was all smoking rooms, and that in future we should call ahead to specifically request a non-smoking room.  We're just so used to hotels being smoke-free, or at least making clear which rooms are designated for smoking, that this would never have occurred to us. No one mentioned that it was a smoking room on check-in. This is a good hotel, but call ahead if you don't want to feel like you're sleeping in a cheap motel in the '70s.

"Great place to stay. "
Location is a block from Times Square. Staff was very friendly from the start. My biggest recommendation: stay in the largest deluxe room. I reserved a superior room with a king size bed which I thought was biggest room... not so much. The room was barely larger than the bed itself, but clean. Just enough room to walk around it. The staff member Bobby is great and he was able to get us into the deluxe room for the following two nights. The deluxe room with a single king size bed was extremely comfortable. My family and I will definitely stay there again.
