Eventhough they had suffered two back to back cat 5 hurricanes, and suffered major damage, the Emerald Beach Resort was back up and running in short order. We had a blast, beautiful accomodations, very friendly staff. We hated to come home.

Right on the beach,

Pros: Beach
Cons: Water flow and temperature
Location: NA
Choose this spot because of the beach, which was beautiful, and closeness to the airport. there were several couples there visiting for their 15th year, so that should say something. The resort needs some work, but has just survived a hurricane. We will visit again.

Going downhill quick fast and in a hurry.....

After 7 days of sailing, we were due for a HOT shower. Only come to find out that a) there was no hot water in our room and b) there weren't enough towels. After a call to the front desk, we took the kids to the pool. Returned 3-4 hrs later to find out a) STILL no hot water and b) not enough towels. After complaining, a maintenance man showed up and seemingly fixed the hot water issue (I tested it and it was hot). No less than 30mins after he left; no more hot water. Add'l towels arrived shortly. Hot water never returned as the maintenance man left ~6pm for the day. Dinner options were limited on Friday as the $40 Caribbean buffet was the main option --- it looked overpriced. Burgers, chicken wings and pizza were the options. It worked as we were feeding kids and quite frankly we were starving. The next morning, it took an hr to get breakfast. The service was slow and the servers appeared incompetent. When the food arrived; it was clear the food had been sitting under a heat lamp for awhile. When checking out; needed to print boarding passes. The printer was out of ink. The front desk seemed indifferent about trying to get it fixed. My wife ended up having to save the files to the pc then email to the front desk to print as their printer worked. While waiting to check out; I sparked a convo with another gentleman who was trying to move rooms. His toliet didn't flush...... Also appeared the hotel front desk allowed friends to "hang out" and chat.

We do apologise for the inconvenience however we look forward to addressing the said issues. We do value you as our valued guest. The buffet was actually designed for the wedding party that was at Hotel.

There are better places to stay

Pros: See description
Cons: See description.
Location: See description.
This hotel is a $10 cab ride from the airport, so it is ok if you have an early flight like we did but as for a vacation hotel - stay away, there are much nicer places to stay. Front office staff was friendly but brutally slow even for Virgin Island standards. The slow down was hampered by the constant interruption of guests checking out towels for the pool and beach at the front desk... really? the front desk is where this should be done? Dinner... the restaurant is weak at best and you can enjoy a romantic table for two on the deck with a very nice view, but forget looking into each eyes while dining as the tables were designed with a 8" pole in the middle of them. They offer 6 dessert offerings... but only one was available. You are at the end of a runway so be prepared for constant prop and jet noise. Rooms are ok but showers ran hot and cold. Air conditioning was not adequate and the bed was hard as a brick. This place was overpriced at $243 per night.. we had stayed in a great place on Tortola for $143. We were coming in from a week touring the islands on a chartered sailboat, so we just needed a place to sleep before our flight... if you are looking to come down with a family for a great vacation... think again!

Best place

This resort was close to the airport and flights did not come in after 7. The staff was great! The room was great! John the gentleman on the beach that helps you with stuff very knowledgeable and willing to help you with anything! Definitely recommend this resort. My daughters and I will be returning next year!

Terrific location, terrible room

Pros: The beach bar.
Cons: Just about everything could be improved.
Having stayed here twice before almost 15 years ago, I took a chance that it would make a comfortable overnight stay on our way to another island. It was a bad choice. While the lobby has been updated, the rooms have not. They made cosmetic changes in the bath while leaving a moldy ceiling. A hole under the sink was fixed with a t-shirt. I wish I was making that up! Luckily, we only stayed one night and the beach bar was as nice as I remember. The restaurant's food was ok, but just ok. If you are looking for convenience to the airport, this is that but not much more.

I was not sure about what to expect because there were a lot of negative reviews. That was definitely not the case for me! Everyone was SO friendly, kind and helpful. My room was always very clean (they even mopped the floors every day). I asked for a different room because there was a large tree blocking my view, and it was taken care of immediately. The food was excellent and I ate in the restaurant or at the beach bar every day. I made a lot of friends and would definitely stay at this hotel again.

Pros: Clean, Great Beach Bar, Good restaurant.
Cons: Water pressure was a little low, and towel service (different from maids for some reason) was iffy.
Location: Near the airport, great on site bar and restaurant. NOTHING that far away on St. Thomas.
This hotel was clean and well maintained. Sometimes we got towels and sometimes we didn't, but the room was always clean. It was pretty close to the airport which lowered the price, but really after the novelty of watching big planes take off against the backdrop of the mountains, you absolutely forget about them. There are also no flights at night. THE greatest thing was the semi-private beach. There was NEVER a huge crowd and the beach was barely 20 yards from the steps to the water. Only a few chairs, for hotel guest only, shaded by palm trees, with a bar a few steps away. We spent at least 3-4 hours a day on the beach and in the water. There was a little beach store, and a great restaurant on the premises which could make this a resort you never need to leave. We however, wanted to explore the island and eat different things. While those looking for posh luxury in a room may want to look elsewhere, if you want a nice, clean place to sleep, with a GREAT uncrowded beach, I would highly recommend the Emerald Beach Resort.
