Beautiful hotel in a great location near City Hall

Posted Jun 15, 2017
Pros: Beautiful architecture and interesting history
Cons: The carpet in my room needed to be vacuumed... seemed like housekeeping missed it.
I stayed three nights at the Whitcomb and had an overall great experience.

Historic lovely hotel but check in troubles

Posted Jun 9, 2017
Was here for the second time and this time there was a problem with our reservation. We had our confirmation and paid deposit but hotel didn't have us listed. We understand errors happen but the staff handled it poorly. Made us wait and made us feel very uneasy about whether we had a room or not. We did finally but no apology or no attempt to make us feel welcome.

Very nice, old fashioned hotel

Posted May 31, 2017
Located in the market district close to tenderloin and Valencia you can walk to city hall from the hotel. They have security and a Starbucks on site. Parking was $38, but you can go in/out.

Centrally located and reasonably priced

Posted May 24, 2017
Pros: Nice location downtown.
Cons: Needs a refrigerator and microwave, but nowhere to put it.
Location: Gyms are close by and central location makes everything available.
Came in on a late flight with no problems. Efficient check in and accommodating staff. The room was clean and although not spacious, it was in the city with period fixtures. The city has far too many homeless people living in the street, but not hotel's fault. (Just love how well those liberals take care of the poor in the worker's paradise.) Very comfortable experience.

Hotel Whitcomb

Posted May 12, 2017
In a nutshell the only good thing about this hotel is the location and that's all I have to say about that.

Historical but a bit worn

Posted Apr 3, 2017
Staff was fine at check in but we were trying to get info on the room, location, wifi, size and were mostly dismissed with - it's a nice room. There was no wifi, limited plugs to recharge, toilet barely flushed, hallways needed vacuuming, better customer care. I was sent to am offsite tech support person who put me on hold for 10 minutes. Bed was fine, great location

Practically in the BART station it is so close....

The hotel is old but clean and convenient. It is close to everything and very convenient for transportation. My room was very small but comfortable. I would stay there again.

Beautiful Old Property In Need Of Upgrade

Posted Feb 17, 2017
Pros: beautiful old building
Cons: Finishes, bathrooms, fitness center
The pictures looked beautiful, and this is indeed a beautiful old building, with grand ceilings and chandeliers, wide halls, etc. However, it seems neglected and in need of an upgrade. The finishes in the rooms and elevators are cheap and old. The tub and sink in my room were stained from use. The carpeting is coming up in lots of areas, especially around door entries. The fitness center is falling apart -- no weights and most machines are broken. There is no room service and they do not have toiletries available if you forget something. It is also not in a great area; rather than a bellman in the evenings, there is a security guard.
