Beautiful Hotel close to beach

I had a wonderful experience. Everyone in Bermuda was so friendly and helpful. The place is very clean and beautiful. It's just on the expensive side. Will be going back.

Cambridge Beaches Resort & Spa

Pros: Resort is a clean, very laid back establishment for adults (13+ year and up) with plenty to offer on the resort and locally. It's what you make of it.
Cons: When a family of 2 adults and three 17 year olds are staying at the resort, suggest to require parents to stay in same cottage as out of control kids.
Location: Somerset is secluded from most of island -- ie Dockyard, Hamilton, St. George's; so will have to plan transportation wisely to go anywhere off resort.
Overall, had a great experience from 7/28-8/5. Front/rear of our cottage overlooked inner harbor and lagoon/ocean, respectively. Resort offered multiple options for bar/restaurant venues on each side of grounds. Food dining was nice (open breakfast buffet served in morning inner harbor side; lunch/dinner served in afternoon/evening both inner harbor side and via well-kept ocean beachside -- drinks/food a bit costly, but typical). Beach personnel were very accommodating; services provided upon arrival at beach with beverages served directly to us beachside and in the water. Smaller lagoons were nice and privately quiet. Concierge was very accommodating and booked any activity requests we had. Went on reef fishing expedition and caught 25 lb African pompano jackfish and snappers. Cooking staff cooked our catch of the day -- deliciously served. Grounds crew (housemaids, waiters/waitresses, hostesses, shuttle attendants, concierge) were very friendly. The establishment caters to the adult genre; laid back and easy going atmosphere all around, smart casual dress and stress-free. Only complaint is three 16-17 yr olds were quartered above us on 2nd floor of our cottage while "very important" parents were staying on opposite side of resort. Kids were out of control; loud all hours of night/morning. We brought it up with front desk, but to no avail -- just got a blank stare and told they were checking out soon. Housemaid told us it took them 2 days to clean/fumigate their quarters.

Great Beach Resort

Pros: The grounds are beautiful. Beach and pool (indoor and outdoor) were great. As far as their breakfast, when they say complete they mean complete.
Cons: Provide a shuttle service between the hotel and airport would be nice. Discouraging boaters from property would be nice.
Location: Short trip to Dockyard, as well as to the southern beaches, which have the pink sand. Nice was to spend the day. H2O on site with boat rentals.
The Cambridge Resort is a great place if you want quiet time on the beach or at the pool. It is secluded, but convenient to their public transportation. Just realize you are at the far end of the Island. Cabs will run about $70 from the airport.

Wonderful Stay

Awesome hotel! The food was wonderful, the staff was accommodating, and our stay was great. We ventured out a couple of times and the food didn't even come close to the quality at the resort. We would definitely stay again.

Beauty and Peace

Cambridge Beaches Resort is a beautiful property, where the landscaping and buildings are well maintained. There is a serenity in its ambiance and the staff are friendly and always ready to be helpful. My accommodations were clean and comfortable, if a bit dated. I rented a deluxe ocean view suite and the view was absolutely deluxe, a panorama of Long Bay and the ocean, which were about 50 yards away. The main beach on Long Bay is about 2-300 yards wide and you can walk out about 100 yards into the crystal clear water before it's deeper than your waist. They have beach staff there all day to bring you towels and set up your beach lounges and umbrella. The facilities are wonderful. An outdoor infinity pool, a heated (90*F) indoor pool, spa (too much chemicals), and various sports venues. And this brings me to the only moderately negative aspect of my stay....... the restaurants. The quality of the food is good, but not spectacular. What is spectacular is the prices. Bermuda is expensive in general, but I believe that this resorts food is unnecessarily so, i.e. $16.00 for a hamburger and fries. There are three restaurants. Tamarisk which is the most formal of the three. Shutters a less formal and more limited menu and Breezes, which was only open for lunch while I was there. At Tamarisk, the food was good, but the menu, which changes every night, read better than its execution and you will be hard pressed to eat for less than $40.00 per person. Shutters is the home of the $16.00 burger. Breakfast is included and is a plentiful buffet, similar to what you will find on a cruise ship. Looking past the cost of eating at these restaurants, while the quality of the food is acceptable, the service is inconsistent and sometimes nonexistent. That $16.00 burger took 45 minutes to make it to my table. Another night, I had an omelet that took 30 minutes and arrived dry and brown. I have probably spent too much times speaking of my eating experience. I don't want that to detract from the overall enjoyment I experienced at this resort. I will return, undoubtedly, but with a large jar of peanut butter.

Just what I needed

Pros: Free breakfast, Close restaurants, Free Internet, Quiet
This resort/spa was glorious! Between the lovely welcome which included a warm towel and rum swizzle, to the afternoon tea, to the lovely and well-kept grounds, to the wonderful accommodations…I could not have asked for more. I almost want to keep this place to myself but it's just too good. I will also mention that this is the ONLY child-free hotel on the island and I wouldn't stay anywhere else if given a choice!

AHHH...wish I could go back to Cambridge Beaches

Pros: Free breakfast, Close restaurants, Quiet, great retreat for adults
Just returned from a "weekend" trip to Bermuda and stayed at Cambridge Beaches. What a beautiful resort! We had the pleasure of staying in one of the pool suites and were overwhelmed by the breathtaking view of the ocean from our suite-side (private) pool! If you are looking for a large modern busy hotel, this is not the place. CB is a beautiful resort with a number of cottages/suites spread across a large piece of property. When you realize that Bermuda has been around prior o 1609, you appreciate the history noted in this resort. You almost think that you are the only one on the resort until you meet up with others at the restaurant or bar(s). CB serves a delicious and very generous breakfast every morning in their signature outdoor dining room which shares a beautiful view of the harbor and infinity pool (there is no bad seat in the place!)The staff is extremely kind and gracious. They have a knack for making sure your needs are being met without being obtrusive. You certainly want to make reservations to dine "on the beach" (literally inches from the water's edge) at Breeze's restaurant. The only drawback is that CB is at the far side of the island, so come prepare to pay for cab fare. Cab fare from the airport to the hotel cost approximately $50 US dollars. This is the perfect destination for couples who are looking to get away to a romantic destination and relax (would not recommend this place for families...adults only!) Bermuda is a beautiful clean island with very friendly people. Certainly dine at Four Ways Inn and Waterlot (very expensive....but worth the experience!)

Cambridge Beaches is a beautiful spot. Staff is excellent. Had a great time but it was NOT a 5 star resort.

Pros: Free breakfast, Quiet, nice spa and beaches
Cons: Nothing close, expensive, property needed some repair/cleaning
Wonderful vacation which is all that counts. I chose Cambridge Beaches over other hotels because I wanted to go top of the line. i do not believe it is. (It might have beenin years past but property needs some improvements.) Room was nice. Staff is awesome. Dining Room and Breezes were very nice. Food was good. Property is a little isolated but Somerset is nearby and Dockyard is easy taxi ride.
