High Expectations

Wife and I got a chance to get way and all our expectations were met. Great staff, amazing food, nice drinks, awesome scenary, and all around great time. Some recommendations: -guys bring 1 pair of long pants to get into fancier restaurants -grab beach towels and setup on lounge chairs early -only drink bottled water...there is plenty

Great Hotel

Pros: Staff was great
Cons: Spa credit, make it usable on all spa items not just the most expensive one.
Location: Tons of things to do around this location. Easy safe walk to town and shopping.
Our experience was pretty good to great. They would not allow us to use the travelosity spa credit accept on a few select items which were the most expensive so it really was worthless. The hotel promised me also they would deliver items to our room for my wife's birthday and our 49th anniversary and they did not do either. The staff at this hotel is excellent oh and everyone we came in contact with was super nice.

Quality, fun resort!

Pros: The best part about this resort was the patio/pool/pool bar area. It is gorgeous! The vibe was always so fun without being too wild/spring break like.
Cons: The rooms are a bit outdated and could use an upgrade.
My boyfriend and I (24 years old) stayed here for 4 nights in Feb. This was our first time in Mexico and our first time doing all-inclusive. Overall, we loved our experience and had a great time. The photos/explanation that travelocity provided were pretty much exactly on point. What you see is what you get. The pool/beach/lounge area was excellent and the service was second to none. There was a good mix of people from different parts of the world and a range of ages, including families and young children. The vibe was relaxed overall, but turned into more of a party in the late afternoon. The area was extremely safe in my opinion. The Playacar area is a gated community with around the clock security. You are basically surrounded by other resorts/tourists. We did not do any of the excursions (too content drinking on the beach), but there were many opportunities available (parasailing, snorkeling, jet skiing, boating, trips to centotes/Tulum/ruins/etc). Also, you have access to all other Riu brand resorts at any time. We spent one afternoon at the resort down the road (5 minute walk). It isn't much different, but provided a fun change of scenery.

Very pretty,nice beach,great food,friendly staff.

Just got home last night. We had a great time. Beautiful place, great staff and great food at the big buffet. The steak house was a disappointment, but rest of food was great. They were decorated for Christmas with white lights and poinsettias everwhere. The day it rained we played free blackjack in the lobby. The only negative were the people selling on the beach. They took "no thanks",,but it was a constant and annoying.

Awesome hotel, even better service!

My husband and I just spent 4 days in this resort and we have all good things to say. The food was great! Even the main buffet was delicious and very varied for everyone's taste palette! The workers go above and beyond and cater 100% to you! Drinks are brought to you at the beach and they are constantly checking on you making sure you have everything you need! The resort also was family friendly! There was fun for all ages. My only semi complain about our room was how hard our bed was. But it was something minor! Other that then I would 100% recommend this resort!

Very nice hotel on the beach.

The hotel was nice. The decore was beautiful. The rooms were spacious. The facilities over all were nice. The pools were perfect and the beach was beautiful. There was a nice variety of food every meal. If this is an adult vacation this is your place and you will have a nice time. The kids facility was very small or suited for small children. They don't really have much for kids to do. If your kids like to swim all day then they will have a good time also. That is my only negative thing to say.

Wonderful trip

Pros: Everything
Cons: nothing
Location: Playacar was gated and you felt very safe here.
Let me first start by saying a vacation is what you make of it usually. If you go and want to find little nitpicky things wrong you will. But if you go to really enjoy yourself most of the time you will. This being said anyone considering this resort as your vacation spot you cannot find a nicer place. Check in and the front desk staff were very good. Would go out of their way to please. The hotel condition is fine very nice Mexican feel. Is there little things that could be better sure but all in all very nice. The bartenders were all friendly and served good drinks. The hotel staff is top notch very friendly and willing to do anything they can to make your stay enjoyable. Also anyone who complains about the food here is way to picky. Everything my wife and I tried was good. I kept reading on other reviews about the pool and tiles missing. Well these tiles are little pieces missing not any big deal at all. The beach is big and wonderful nice sand and the water very clear. Our room had a nice view of the courtyard and pool and a small peak at the ocean. My wife while loving ocean views loved our room and didn't think twice about the view. So anyone considering this resort should say yes and then go and enjoy it.
