I like to start this review with a salute to the staff at The Iberostar Resort Hotel. The best staff by far in the Riviera Maya. Our first day was October 13th and we traveled overnight on a red eye flight but all our fatigue was set aside upon arrival. We were met in the very nice lobby area by the most welcoming person I think I've ever met. Her name Janire Goiria. Janire greeted our family and helped us get comfortable immediately. The staff at the Iberostar gets my most sincere thank you for your commitment to guest services. I'd like to mention a few of them that went above and beyond my expectations. Janire Goiria in guest services you are a very special person and your attention to my families vacation will always be remembered. Iridian Hernandez for all your help in the lobby and communicating with activities off the resort site. Arturo, I really enjoyed our talk and the time you spent engaging us to have a great time at the resort. Ok Travelers here are my thoughts. The Iberostar is situated perfectly in the Town Playacar just $6 dollars and 5 minutes by cab to 5th avenue. The Resort is large, a combination of two resorts The Quetzal and The Tucan so you get to share all amenities like 6 pools 8 restaurants 2 lobbies and much more. Situated as advertised in the jungle at the beach its awesome. I could walk the grounds all day and not get board. There lots to see pretty flowers, Mayan statues, waterfalls, trails and bridges, even pink flamingos. The rooms

Where do I start ? The resort it’s amazing.. our first time here, and we will definitely be back .. so beautiful and clean , and the jungle it’s so much fun with all the animals .. the pool is huge , there is room for everyone.. food is great , .. the place is excellent.. Close to down town , and walking distance to the Playacar shopping center .. the beach is ok , still lots a see weeds, but if you walk down the beach like 10-15 minutes, you will find this beautiful Lagune with crystal clear water .. restaurants are great , just make sure you make reservations earlier . Can’t wait to go back 👍

Upgraded to Presidential Suite due to overbooking.

Pros: The presidential suite accommodated 5 people very nicely. It was AWESOME. Beach is clean and water is beautiful. great for families.
Cons: food-serve more variety of fish-fruit, you are on the ocean. the music at the beach restrnt, ugh -I hate country, play festive music related to area
Location: Love location. Kayaking on ocean was so fun. walking to market in evenings was very enjoyable.
AWESOME beauty. 2nd time to visit. Was somewhat disappointed in the food this year. Fruit selection very small, would like to see more variety of fish on menu. Last year menu was way better. Would like to see variety of snacks at beach bar. It was burgers and fries & hot dogs everyday which is OK but I am from USA and that is always a go to. Maybe an idea could serve street tacos, tacquitos, finger foods, etc. HUGE Shout OUT to Rosie at the Quetzal lounge... she is so friendly and we enjoyed our visit with her. Drinks need More ice blended in them at beach bar. beautiful property and very clean. I appreciate everyone who made my stay possible July 18th-24th. Workers are very friendly and work hard everyday and I appreciate them.

The hotel grounds are impeccable. Everyone greets you with a smile. The food and drinks where delicious. We felt completely secure and at ease at all times. The animals appear to be well cared for. I cannot stress enough how beautiful this resort is. I got the sense that they really care about your experience and strive for excellence. I would definitely recommend it and will visit again. Also, spend the extra amount and get the ocean front junior suite, it won’t disappoint.

Great atmosphere

The hotel is as amazing and so was the staff. They were extremely welcoming and you felt as if your presence mattered to them. The atmosphere was amazing and the jungle vibe made the hotel that much better. The sounds of the monkeys and peacocks definitely were different but made the trip even more memorable. The beach was huge and very nice. The ocean had a good amount of seaweed but the hotel workers did a nice job trying to keep up with it and cleaning the beach in the morning. The pool was huge and very nice. There were plenty of chairs around the pool and on the beach. The shows at night were good too and entertaining. The food was good, but can be repetitive since it’s buffet style; the specialty restaurants were very good. The area of Playacar is really nice, you can walk around and go into the little shopping area that was a 10 minute walk from the hotel. Overall, this trip was so much fun and I would recommend it to others!

See you next year!

Pros: Just about everything...The jungle setting is awesome!
Cons: It would be nice if they had there own hotel shuttle as part of the package...
We had a wonderful time! This is our third year and we would highly recommend "Iberostar"....There property is beautiful and kept up very well! We have stayed on both sides..The food and drinks are wonderful! If I was to change one thing, it would be that the bathroom door swings out instead of in. It gets in a woman's way when blow drying your hair and applying makeup! AND thanks for putting in makeup mirrors in all the rooms!

Great hotel, beach and entertainment staff!

We loved the Iberostar Quetzal! The Entertainment Star friends were excellent, especially Jeff, Danny and Antonio! We loved the beach and the animals, especially the monkeys. The staff and food were great, especially the Japanese restaurant.

Great Holiday Stay

Pros: The service was top notch. Service personal were on the spot with drinks, food, and overall service.
Overall the stay at the resort was amazing! The staff were all friendly and accommodating. Our only hiccup on the trip was with the communication between Travelocity and Iberostar. He had booked a Junior Suite with two beds, confirmed with a phone call with Travleocity, but once at the hotel, only had a queen sized bed (my wife and I were traveling with our teenage kids). We asked the front desk for a Junior Suite with double beds, and found out that the resort does not book rooms like that. So there needs to be increased communication between the hotel and Travelocity. It was recommended to us that next time to you travel via Travelocity, also call the resort ahead of your stay to confirm all the details of the trip.

Great hotel, not for physically challenged guests

Pros: Staff, food and activities were great. Our grandchildren loved the hotel and its amenities.
Cons: This 5 star hotel and booking agents should inform potential customers that the hotel does not have elevators. I could not find this on any adverts.
Location: Great beach....Explor Park is fantastic......5th avenue is a nice place to shop.
We were 3 families celebrating our 50th wedding anniversary. All were booked at the 5 star Iberostar Quetzal. This Iberostar hotel is a dual hotel complex. The 3 floor Quetzal and the Tucan are served by two separate lobbies. Our prepaid reservation was for an upgraded junior suite. We were assigned a room on the 3rd floor. My wife can not navigate stairs and we requested a room on the 1st floor. We were informed that the Quetzal was full and our request could not be granted. After discussion with other hotel staff they were to assigned a junior suite on the 1st floor in the Tucan hotel. This seemed to be an acceptable alternative. After our first day I found if very difficult to navigate a wheelchair through 2 lobbies and a parking lot 2 or 3 times a day in order to enjoy the company of our family. I requested to be moved back to the Quetzal hotel. Again were were informed that the hotel was full and the only way we could be moved was to accept a down grade to a standard suite conditional on signing a waiver of agreement. I did so. The guest services manager told me that any compensation for the inconvenience would have to be made by our booking agent . The agent would contact the hotel on our behalf and present our request. We did, Compensation was refused because I had signed the waiver. In summary, we did not get what we paid for. This 5 star hotel is great but If you have physical limitations make sure you request 1st floor only.
