Great Resort with a Few Flaws

Pros: Nice facilities, grounds keepers are very friendly. Food was good for the most part.
Cons: Customer service and treatment of ALL guests, not just special treatment for some.
Location: Xcaret is a must! We had so much fun here! It is an all day trip and make sure to stay for the show at 9pm!!!
I was a little skeptical about the resort after reading some of the reviews on here. When we arrived at GP Colonial the receptionist was nice, checked us in, etc. We did notice that the European guests were greeted with drinks and we were not (we are Hispanic), which was an interesting observation. We arrived a little earlier than 3pm which is their strict check in time, so we had to leave our luggage with the bellhops which was a bit unsettling but our luggage was taken to a locked room. Unfortunately we continued to experience the lack of courtesy throughout the trip, waiting a long time at the bars (being skipped over), etc. We didn't let it bother us, but it was a bit of a hassle. The first day we did not receive any room service, we had to request sheets for the pullout couch bed twice before receiving and toilet paper. The beach was bad, as many reviews mention but that is out of the hotels control so we hung out by the pool the majority of our trip. The pool was nice but the water was constantly luke warm, it would have been nicer if it were cold as it was extremely hot outside. The real issue was that the people at the front desk were pretty rude and not helpful after the original check in. The bellhops were extremely rude and it always seemed like I was bothering them when I would ask for a taxi. Because of this, I am not sure I would return to GP. There are too many resorts in the Riviera Maya to be treated rudely while on vacation.

Beyond wonderful

Pros: Staff, hospitality, natural pool, spa, accommodation
This has been my third experience in the resort and I love it. We stayed one week this time at the end of October. There is something special about this place that makes you feel warm and want to come back (I already booked another trip for December for two weeks). Everything is set up in such a nicely way that you always feel that they have your back. Everything is done in a timely manner to make your stay joyful. Lots of food options, lots of pools, wonderful beach, amazing natural pool in the beach, sports, activities, relaxation in the spa. It's the best place to stay without any doubt. I love walking through the paths, watching the flamingos or the crocodile. Everything is great in this place and, above anything else, the staff. They are naturally kind, always offering a smile and willing to help no matter what it takes. I don't look anywhere else for a getaway. Grand Palladium Riviera Maya is THE place.

Large hotel

Pros: The water park and kids daycare
Cons: Transportation, cleanliness of the rooms and please get rid of the towel cards...
Location: The location is good
Original booking was for colonial, which offered all of the family amenities that we were looking for, including the waterpark and restaurants. When we arrived we were re-located to Riviera which was the furthest from our activities. It would typically take us 30 to 40 minutes to get to our destination due to the large size of the resort and confusing transportation. Having small children, this quickly became a burden. We found the food to be great however we could not make reservations and would sometimes have to wait 45 mins to an hour for seating. They did not offer room service at all and we had to give towel cards to get towels which was nothing short of an inconvience, due to the fact that the towel huts were few and far apart, and our kids would often loose or forget their towel cards. Our bathroom sprung a leak from the ceiling causing us to be re-located to another section in Rivera with no compensation. On a good note, the children's activities were great and and Karla Was amazing with our kids. How she got them all together to perform on stage so well is beyond me, she is amazing with kids. We have Ben to many resorts in Mexico and although the kids water park was great we would not recommend this resort.

huge resort but lovely

The Grand Palladium was lovely, the rooms were slightly dated but the bed was comfortable and the pillows were not so bad, I slept well. The staff was friendly and the pools and beach are terrific, especially the adult pool and the pool at the spa. You will have a great time here.

The resort was beautiful, with lots to do.

Pros: Quiet
We greatly enjoyed our time at the Grand Palladium. we had been to their property in Jamaica, and so decided to try the one in the Riviera Maya. We were not disappointed! We were upgraded to a nicer room at the Riviera section of the resort upon check in. Our only problem with the resort was that it was so big, we got lost going back to our room our first night after dinner! All in all, we had a very relaxing time at the Palladium. The beach was great, and we found good snorkeling wit lots of fish right off the beach.

Wonderful! The water at this hotel can be consumed right out of the tap due to its filtration.

Pros: Free breakfast, Close restaurants, Free Internet, the water at this hotel can be safely consumed.
Excellent in every area-- although something needs to be done with the raccons (unwanted dinner guests) at the fish restauarnt on the beach. Although this makes for an interesting story, the unwelcomed guests detracted from one of the best fish meals I have ever eaten. Again, all other aspects of this resort were top notch!
