Okay place, but won't stay again

The room was quiet, except you could hear upstairs guests walking around, which they did as late as 1 a.m. Staff were very nice and accommodating. BIG PROBLEM: We were not happy there was only a pool and NO spa -- both Travelocity and THEIR websites said there was. I checked BEFORE booking as we wanted a hot tub after walking around all day! In fact, we skipped staying at other hotels that only had pools listed.

Dear Helen, Thank you for your review. Please note that we took immediate action and informed Expedia/Travelocity to remove the hot tub feature from their content. We are sorry for the confusion and inconvenience. The hot tub is currently not available and we understand the frustration it might had caused you. We appreciate your feedback and kind words on our staff. It's also nice to hear that you found the room quiet and our staff to be accommodating. We truly hope that we will have the opportunity to host you again. Please come back and visit us when you are in the area. Best regards,

Good price in an overpriced area

Pros: Price and location
Cons: The breakfast, almost non-existant- could be made better along with getting a newspaper and venign machnine on site.
Location: Near the Airport and the freeways to go to different places. Monterey is about 70 miles south, San Francisco is about 50 miles to the north.
This is a no frills motel, but we had coffee in the room and Dennys is on the premises. Compared to the exhorbitant prices charged by the other "Silicon Valley" ripoffs, this was very acceptable. The room was in good repair and everything worked properly. No newspaper or vending machine on site.

Well Below average.

Pros: The only nice thing about this hotel was it's close proximity to the airport, public transportation and the concert venue that I was going to.
Cons: Newer furniture. Much, much cleaner room and amenities. New paint job. Newer and cleaner carpeting.
Location: The location was fine during the day but pretty sketchy at night. A few decent restaurants but not close to any shopping. Very close to the airport.
Upon entering the room I was immediately disappointed. The furniture was old and worn. There were several fruit flies visibly flying around the room. The hand towels were filthy. Don't think they had been cleaned for some time.

Great price, Great room, Nice neighborhood, Friendly staff

Pros: Free breakfast, Close restaurants, Free Internet, Quiet
The Vagabond Inn provides a nicely sized room at an amazing price! I only stayed one night but this was a great place and would surely check in again if I happen to be in San Jose. They included all the toiletries you could need, hair dryers, ironing boards, the bed was comfortable, and the room was tidy! There is a Denny's right next door if you get hungry, and a refrigerator in the room if you want to store your leftovers. The neighborhood is great, we got there at around 1 AM and there wasn't any noise or sense of being in a dodgy area. I would definitely recommend this place to any of my friends. There is also a MUNI stop a block away that goes by every 30 mins or so. Side note - it's near the Winchester House if you plan on visiting

The rugs were sticky, the room smelled dank and all around I would not recommended spending a night here. I originally booked 2 nights but after 15 minutes I wanted out.... was stuck for 1 night.

I can't believe I paid money for this...

This was by far the worst hotel room I have ever been in. The sink and countertop were broken, the clothing rack had been pulled off the wall, the wallpaper was peeling in some places and completely missing in others, the place was FILTHY - you could see the outline of where pictures had been hung on the wall. The shoes from the last person who stayed there were still in the room begging the question, "Did they clean?". The phone was missing the cord to the handset. I could go on. The only positives was the free access to wireless and the guy who checked us in. When I think of what just $10 more would have bought me at a Super8 or Days Inn. It makes me just sick to think how much money I paid to stay at the Vagabond. When I checked out the next morning, I told the woman on duty that they should not be renting that room out. Her reply was pitiful, "We're remodeling so some of the rooms are worse than others." I don't care. You shouldn't be renting it out.

worst than the bates motel

was home for family emergency needed place close to hospital only stayed one night due to the finding of roaches when getting ready in the AM after sleeping in this place. When we approached management all they could say was I have never seen them before. Then due to failing health of family member had to stay at hospital. Manager accused of making up story to not have to pay the rest of week rate. We provided letter written by hospital caseworker. Not exactly family oriented.

Very Close to the airport and light-rail. Clean and comfortable

I would definitely stay here again. Friendly staff, great rate and just a few minutes to the airport. The room was comfortable and easy to ge to.

Nothing significant about it except that I thought the ptice high for the room being under construction. I could have stayed where airport delivery was featured for a somewhat higher cost which would have been worthwhile and something I will include in the future.
