Only place in Monterey where you will be able to get a hotel right on the beach. The beautiful scenery is all this place has going for it. The rooms are a complete mess, very unsanitary, and foul smelling. I paid for the king deluxe oceanfront and received a standard queen with no view, all without being notified prior to arrival. The customer service is terrible, still waiting on a response from Travelocity to resolve the issue. I do not recommend this place

Very deceptive/devisive about their hidden costs fthat gives them an unfair bump in the stack rank in searches against competition. e.g., Neither on their website nor in their written communication with me did they state any amount they charge for pets. Absent declaration, default assumption - no charge. Now all things being equal without that hidden charge they looked better than even Motel 6 on June 19 ( Note: motel 6 by default has not charged for pets). When I & kids arrived late at the property around 8:00 pm, They sprang a $30 Tax on top of the room rate for a small dog. The icing on the cake was when they stated I could still cancel and look elsewhere fully knowing that I was past their cancellation deadline by over a day. Furthermore trusting, he might still allow to cancel as I was investigating options elsewhere, travelocity sends message asking feedback on stay there i.e., I am checked in and lose my prepaid money if I go elsewhere. What topped it all was the excuses they gave post fact - the attendent showed me their website that only states they allow pets but still no fee or anything else is mentions. Then when I pointed out my message about the accompanying pet I had sent in with my reservation and their response not stating anything or amount. The attendant points out a non deterministic phrase "....'may be' a charge....." . More than money it's the time waste & business' credibility...doing a play on words to squeeze a $ in a late arrival situation.

It is disappointing if a guest leaves with less than first-rate experience - this is very unlike us.
