Great place near everything in Union Square.

Pros: The staff
Cons: Bring back Kuleto's restaurant
Location: close to everything and the value was excellent
The staff made this place special beside its location. Kuleto's restaurant is gone but Café Bellini's is next door. The food is great there also.

The room smelled like fried duck and grease fro the hotel restaurant one story below. When we asked to change rooms we were dried.

Good Downtown Location

Hotel very nice once you get there. Parking is a challenge. Construction in the area makes it difficult but when I called they met me on the street and parked my car for me. Their valet parking is expensive and takes time to retrieve the car. We learned to park one block away for half the price and it wasn't difficult. The staff were very helpful especially a man named Limo at the front desk.

Was disappointed at all the fees

Thought we were getting a $65 discount and it said there were to be no additional travelocity fees. Then there were $62 in additional fees

Great location, room sizes vary, parking $$$

Pros: Location, character. They were a accommodating with a roll out bed at no extra charge for my son.
Cons: Bathroom cleanliness. Bad odor in hallways & elevator. Parking cost is too high $58/nite. Small touches; cookies at check-in, AM coffee, more towels
Location: A great location at Union Square with nearby (shopping, restaurants, bars, cable car, public transit) walking to China Town. Great onsite restaurant.
Great location, half a block from Union Square with walking distance to so much. If you're coming in on public transportation this is not a bad option. With the construction on the nearby subway (ongoing) navigating in this area is now a nightmare. Access to Powell Street in front on the hotel is very, very difficult (and I am native to SF) making loading/unloading next to impossible. Parking is $58 a night at the hotel and about $31-36 in nearby lots per night. Union Sq lot is only a block away. Front desk staff was awesome. On-site restaurant, Kuletto's is awesome. Room sizes can really vary. This stay I stayed in a regular queen room and the first one was claustrophobic. They moved us to a slightly better room that was somewhat standard size with tiny bathroom. Still a bit tight for 2 adults. I highly recommend asking about the room size when checking in. I've stayed in the suite rooms before and they are generous and well worth the upgrade if you can afford it. This hotel definitely has "character", is a bit old and creaky but has been upgraded well. Could use a bit more sprucing up (cleaner in the bathroom) and have better amenities (more towels, cookies at check-in, free coffee downstairs in the AM). The small touches would make a difference. Bathroom could definitely be cleaner, bad smell in the hallways and elevator would improve satisfaction too!

Great location

Pros: location. Short 10 min walk to Golden Gate Theater
Cons: they were clearly understaffed...but it was the Sat before Christmas and everything was crazy in the city.
Location very good - easy walk to shopping, plays, restaurants etc. Inside restaurant Kuleto's is very tasty. Couple of things to be aware of. 1) Hotel guests receive 20% discount at Kuleto's & the little bar in the lobby. However they make you ask specifically for the 20% discount (applicable as long as you charge to your room). Why not make it easy and just automatically give 20% discount when the guest is charging to their room? No, you must say it out loud that you want the 20% discount. 2) Hopefully this is not a common occurrence but our lunch waitress completely bungled our bill. We had a party of 6 so an automatic 18% gratuity was added, but then she also had an extra $40 tip...and some other charges. We were not able to resolved this until later that evening when the bill was corrected and reduced $80. 3) The hotel parking is convenient but at $58 per car plus tax/fees it is quite a bit more expensive than the city parking garage which is right around the corner. (I think we paid 2x as much.) 4. Not sure how often they close/block off Powell in front of the hotel but if you are there the week of Christmas beware that you need to let the guards at the corner know you are a hotel guest & they will allow you to drive through the blocked wall. this is the only way to get your car to the vallet parking. 5. Expect a very small room - probably common at most SF hotels, but the bathroom was large enough for only one person at a time.

Tip housekeeping well, or else….

This is going to sound like a paranoid cliché, but I had a passive-aggressive housekeeping situation on the second day of my stay at Villa Florence while I was traveling by myself for business. When I left for the day, I left a $2 tip on the desk, along with my cell phone charger. I left some of my toiletries on the counter of the bathroom, and my unworn pants were hanging by hanger clips by the ankle portion of the pant legs in the bathroom as well (a tactic to help steam out the wrinkles). When I returned, the first thing that I noticed was my charger was missing (the $2 was still on the desk). I found the charging brick portion in my toiletries bag (along with everything else I had left out on the counter….almost). I finally found detachable cord to the charger under a book on the nightstand. Then I noticed that the bar of soap that I had barely used had been removed and not replaced. Must be an oversight, I thought. Things became stranger when I noticed that my pants had been rehung and that the buttons on one of the pairs was hanging by a thread. Perhaps they were in this condition when I packed them, although I don’t recall that. I officially realized that I was being messed with when my contact lens case was missing. I knew I had it because I had used it the night before and had left it on the counter in the morning. Nothing beats having to trek out late at night on a sketchy street to buy a new one (along with a sewing kit).

Great stay at a centrally located hotel

Pros: Location, comfortable bed, helpful staff, beautiful look and feel - high quality
Cons: Sofa bed was typical - not perfectly comfortable, but adequate
Location: Union Square - 5 minutes; Chinatown - 15 minutes, Public Transportation - right out the front door to get anywhere you want to be
Villa Florence is a beautiful hotel just off of Union Square. The room was comfortable and spacious with a high quality mattress and linens. The location couldn't be more perfect to access all forms of public transportation (cable cars, BART, trams, buses). You're right in the middle of the action, yet away from the craziness of Fisherman's Wharf. Great place to stay !!
