Pros: it had that old style san Francisco feel to it.

Location: pier 39 Alcatraz island fine dinning and all the fun tourist's things. There are to good small diners right a crossed the street from the front door

Wonderful historic building

Could have used more pleasant staff to fit the character of the hotel Excellent setting for breakfast. Need a cleaner entrance. Don't appreciate having Starbucks as part of the lobby

Dirty and misrepresented!!

Posted Sep 26, 2016
We were looking forward to staying in a historical hotel and instead found a creepy, smelly and dingy room within a very sketchy neighborhood. The staff was rude as well. We left within an hour of checking in! Terrible!!

OK stay at historical hotel

Posted Aug 29, 2016
Pros: History of location (SF City Hall in 1912) and historic decor of hotel.
Cons: Little things like a newspaper in the morning, place to plug in cell phone charger, more helpful wait staff, cleaner bar area.
Location: See spectacular City Hall nearby.
Historic component of hotel was interesting. Rooms are old but clean. Bathroom very small. Hotel staff was nice. Sidewalk outside hotel was filthy from transients. Waited in hotel's nearly empty restaurant for 15-20 minutes while waiter ignored us. We left. Bar area dirty. The hotel was OK, I would probably not stay there again.

Nothing works in the rooms .. From the toilet flush to the wifi.. Rooms are dingy and smelly. Worse than a 50$/night motel

Completely horrible experience

Posted Aug 23, 2016
The hotel lobby was dingy and seems like the carpet has not been changed ever. Reached the room and the condition was the same . Almost none of the lights worked. Room was small and cramped. Ac did not work. Wifi did not work . Toilet flush did not work. Brought this to the notice of the front desk and they assured me they will relocate me to a different room the next Day since they were full at that point . The next day they gave me the same excuse that there were no rooms available . Although travel websites did show similar rooms were available immediately . No reason to book this hotel stay away .

Dark, and a bit creepy

Posted Aug 8, 2016
My kids said it reminded them of the Tower of Terror from Disneyland and they were sure it must be haunted. Very dark, cramped. Dicey neighborhood.

It's an old place.....

Posted Jul 24, 2016 on Expedia
Pros: Location was convenient.
Cons: Elevators hardly worked the entire week we were there.
Location: Location was good....but bring ear plugs if you need a good nights rest!
Rooms were extremely small. If you ask for a handicap room, which they gave us at same rate, it works out much better. When you look on line the rooms are old, mattresses may be new but you cannot turn around in the bathrooms. Interesting atmosphere inside the hotel lobby....ate in the bar restaurant off lobby and will admit the food was very good. Try Sam's Diner across the street for best breakfast/brunch around! Good location in the town, but noisy at night. Once done, no return!
