Hotel Whitcomb

In a nutshell the only good thing about this hotel is the location and that's all I have to say about that.

Historical but a bit worn

Staff was fine at check in but we were trying to get info on the room, location, wifi, size and were mostly dismissed with - it's a nice room. There was no wifi, limited plugs to recharge, toilet barely flushed, hallways needed vacuuming, better customer care. I was sent to am offsite tech support person who put me on hold for 10 minutes. Bed was fine, great location

Practically in the BART station it is so close....

The hotel is old but clean and convenient. It is close to everything and very convenient for transportation. My room was very small but comfortable. I would stay there again.

Beautiful Old Property In Need Of Upgrade

Pros: beautiful old building
Cons: Finishes, bathrooms, fitness center
The pictures looked beautiful, and this is indeed a beautiful old building, with grand ceilings and chandeliers, wide halls, etc. However, it seems neglected and in need of an upgrade. The finishes in the rooms and elevators are cheap and old. The tub and sink in my room were stained from use. The carpeting is coming up in lots of areas, especially around door entries. The fitness center is falling apart -- no weights and most machines are broken. There is no room service and they do not have toiletries available if you forget something. It is also not in a great area; rather than a bellman in the evenings, there is a security guard.

Honest hotel with beautiful historic feel

We stayed at this hotel as a family. The hotel has a historic charm. The rooms are small but clean. We forgot to load our luggage into the car but when we called the hotel they had turned it into lost and found and we were able to retrieve our luggage without any hassle. I would recommend staying here to anyone!

The manager, Varun Kaushal, was especially helpful

He gave us the VIP treatment, despite planning our stay last minute. He brought a fridge to our room as well as worked with out check-out time. Truly, the whole staff was helpfull, professional, and a delight to stay with.

Unsafe neighborhood

I took BART from the airport and arrived at midnight. Although the hotel is only a block from the station I regretted this decision. In that short distance I had to navigate through multiple groups of homeless and other suspect people hanging out on the street. Fortunately there was also a good police presence. There were no decent restaurants or bars in the immediate vicinity and when I did find a place for lunch, the owner there told me the neighborhood has a big issue with drug activity. I will not stay there again.
