"Great location"
Just needed a room for one night in the financial district so we could hit some happy hours and have a nice dinner. Our room was small, but clean and comfortable. Would definitetly stay again for just one night. The price was right.

"Awesome location, wonderful staff!! "
The staff was phenomenal, the room was perfect. They even had pancakes, eggs and sausage in addition to your standard muffins, fruit and oatmeal. The fact the breakfast was free was a definite plus. I can't rave enough about the staff. My flight wasn't until 11:50pm and they kept my luggage while I went out sightseeing. Even told me I can relax in the lobby area and watch a movie or catch up on work using the free wifi until I was ready to head to the airport. The location is perfect, right in the middle of everything at a price I could not believe. I will be going back.

"Great hotel, not great experience on arrival"
On arrival we had to unload a lot of bridal dresses. We had to get our own cart, when my wife asked for help the attendant replied "I'm going as fast as I can, it's not like I'm smoking a cigarette". So rude. By comparison the front desk staff were very courteous and helpful. They apologized and offered a speedy check in. The rest of our stay was excellent.

"Nice hotel close to the pier"
We wanted to stay somewhere that was close to the pier since we were taking a cruise out of San Francisco. The hotel was very festive (we were there a week before Christmas) and very elegant. The one thing I didn't care for was the neighborhood, it was very crowded and a lot of traffic. Otherwise, I would stay here again.

"Great location, but ..."
I've stayed at the Hotel Whitcomb three times now. Great location. Cool historic hotel. Okay with the general lack of services, since there's so much to do and see in San Francisco. However, the property is getting dated ... and not in a good way. Peeling wall paper in the room. Glass shelves in the bathroom barely hanging onto the wall over the sink. And a few other odds and ends. While the room itself was clean (though fairly dusty,) the hallway had not been vacuumed in the three full days I was there. I'm willing to bet the link and cookie crumbs (or whatever it was) is still sitting on the dark part of the carpet in the middle of the hallway. While there were cleaning staff for the rooms, I didn't see one person cleaning elevators, front door glass, hallways, or anything in the lobby during my entire stay.

"They were very welcoming. The valet staff was very nice."
Stayed in this hotel for part of our vacation to northern California. It was located in the financial district section of town just outside of Chinatown. The hotel was very nice, seemed to be geared more to business travelers than vacationers but nice just the same. The only thinkg I guess I thought was missing was a gift shop ( the had a small selection but not a real gift shop) and a cafe with a little lower price point. We ate breakfast in the hotel one morning and it was excellent. Other days we found some great places in Little Italy and in Chinatown. We had two rooms and they both had a wonderful view of Coit Tower and the Bay. The only downside is the $60.00 per night parking fee (we had 2 cars). I would recommend it to others though as the rooms were very nice and the staff very friendly.
