"great location! friendly staff"
for a hostel, it was extremely clean. staff great. awesome downtown location, convenient to everything. clean rooms and kitchen area. highly recommend if you're into the "hostel" thing. Quiet when it needs to be at night (besides outside noise from being in a city of course)

"Lively & Friendly"
The staff was quite friendly and helpful! Accommodations were okay, a bit sparse for amenities and accommodation comfort. Great for families and close to fwys. and restaurants. Breakfast buffet was very good and reasonable. If you want simplicity, this is a good choice.

"Amazing stay"
My boyfriend and I made last minute reservations for five nights. We called at about 11pm the night before checking in to see if there was any way for us to check in early, and the manager was very understanding and accommodating. Kenlen was awesome with a quick check-in, and all staff members are really friendly. The room was clean and the cleaning staff did a great job every day. The hotel has a really good location, walking distance from plenty of great things. We always managed to get street parking, so that was a plus. We loved the elevator, since it gave a classic feel, but it may frustrate others since there is a door, then a gate. Overall, I would stay again in a heartbeat.

"Love It! "
I absolutely love this hotel. You can feel very safe here. Your room card has to be scanned in order to go up in the elevator. It has a beautiful pool and hot tub on the second floor facing the ocean. On the 7th floor there is a sky lounge that anyone registered there can use. I have only stayed in the deluxe room. It is very roomy with a couch that can be pulled out into a queen size bed. A chair, desk, refrigerator, nice size TV and queen size bed. The bathroom is big with a big tub with jets! Also a separate shower. I do not feel I need to pay the extra money for a room with a view. My room faces the street. So nice you won't want to leave.Go down to the lobby and you can see the ocean and the Oceanside Pier, both just across the street.

"Clean Quiet and comfortable"
The hotel overall was great. We had a quiet room on an upper floor. Early in our stay there was some kind of contractor training happening and we were a little nervous about noise - same with the end of our stay when the hotel filled up with teenage lacrosse players but through everything our room stayed quiet and we had no trouble. The bed was comfortable and the room, although not huge, felt large and un-cramped. Everyone we dealt with was very pleasant. Breakfast in the morning was great - The hot selections varied and there was always waffles and bagels as well. We didn't use the pool but we really didn't plan to (we visited in Jan) - They say it's heated but the water felt like ice. The hot tub on the other hand was a nice surprise. Housekeeping was a little unpredictable both in time of day and level of service. The first day they did a full turn, the second day they just replaced towels - no shampoos, didn't even make the bed. Day 3 towels and made bed but not until almost 4pm. It wasn't really a problem for me but it could be if you were a more in-the-room guest or had small children and nap times to work out. One tip: When visiting southern CA either bring or buy a couple reusable shopping bags. The local stores (grocery, Target, etc) don't give you plastic bags - and when you ask for them they generally charge extra and give you some attitude about it.

"Perfect stay"
The entire staff was helpful and gracious from the valet to the front desk to the maid service. They had a pet bowl and and pet bed ready for my dog at check in. The bed was comfortable, the room was gorgeous with an excellent view. The hotel provided coffee in the morning in the cozy lobby and the location was perfect, right in the heart of the gaslamp district and very walkable to all the restaurants, bars and sites. My dog and I had a great time and will definitely return to this hotel.

"Awesome Hotel"
We totally recommend this hotel. The staff was terrific. The beds and pillows were extremely comfortable as we were able to sleep like little kittens. Ask for Gina at the front desk because she's the bomb. We will again stay at this hotel on our next trip to San Diego. The zoo and the safari were also awesome.

"Convenient to beach and great restaurants"
Hotel has great access to freeway, walkable to restaurants, beach, and nature walk along river. The rooms are large, comfortable with microwave and refrigerator. The staff was extremely helpful and friendly. We visited at Christmas time and the lobby and restaurant were decorated for the season. There was ample parking. The only negative was the heater which was somewhat noisy when the fan was blowing; this was normal fan noise and not a broken unit.
