Great location and the Bar was fabulous.

Pros: The bar. The location, the central lounge area.
Cons: the heating/AC in one of our rooms was problematic. an upgrade there would probably be best.
Location: Lots of restaurants and bars. Located in the Gaslamp District, much to walk to and explore.
We chose this hotel after stopping into the bar last year for a drink. The Palace Bar has a great selection of whiskey and scotch. For our stay we were on the top floor, the 4th floor. Our rooms were located around a central gathering area, sofas and chairs to enjoy. A great place to relax and chat after the days adventures. Because it is a central space the opportunity to meet new interesting people happened everyday. I'm a curious person and I love hearing peoples stories, this was a plus for me. The rooms were nice, the bathrooms were not large but worked. Having a little balcony was nice. a green view of the courtyard. Having a door that opened to the outdoors was nice allowing some fresh air into the rooms. All staff were friendly and attentive. We would stay here again.

Very nice charming older but modern hotel

Pros: Location and amenities
Cons: Public areas were to cold and public computer does not work well.
Great location in the Gaslamp district, near many restaurants, shopping and public transportation. Rooms are bit small but cozy. Food in restaurant was excellent and reasonable priced. Staff was always friendly helpful and courteous.

Deserves 'Grand' in the name

Cons: Include soft pillows in the assortment.
This is the coolest hotel. Great location in the gaslight area and an awesome old restored and very historical hotel. The hotel is so interesting and inviting....you really just have to see this place even if you don't stay here. The rooms were furnished w heavy oak carved pieces, some authentic and some repro, but not fussy stuff. They put a lot of money into restoring this place so everything was very clean and well kept. The beds were very comfortable and sheets were nice. They have an awesome bar at street level - great place to have a drink and meet up with your friends before walking around the area.
