Don't stay Friday and Saturday Nights!

My family found out the hard way, DO NOT stay Friday and Saturday Nights. The party bands started right outside our hotel room at 9:30 Saturday night. We told the staff that we needed to sleep as we had a 15K run the next morning. They sent up earplugs and said they could move us SUNDAY night. They said the bands play Friday and Saturday nights until 2:00am! We could not sleep even with the earplugs. The music was SO loud. We had to miss our race since we didn't get to sleep until after 2:00am. We spoke with the manager and he said we should have read the reviews that it was loud. SUCH as disappointment and a poor response from management!

Nice clean older hotel.

Pros: Very clean and the personnel were very friendly and helpful.
Cons: Nothing
Location: Very good location for walking, shopping, and restaurants.
2 blocks to Horton Plaza and many restaurants. They serve breakfast on the 10th floor with a wonderful view. Really clean rooms with small refrigerator, microwave, coffee maker, dishes, and silverware.

Great Experience!!!

Pros: rooftop view, in the gaslamp area
This place had a super friendly staff ( especially Merry) and really made me feel like I was on a vacation away from home (despite being from San Diego). The room was very clean and the hotel as well. I would love to stay there again!

Hotel is not too far from the Convention Center

Pros: The staff was quite nice.
First they gave me a below standard Rome. Upon complaining, they gave a better room.

Gaslamp suite stay

Pros: The draperies look a little old fashioned. It match the beddings and pillow well I guess that what it is.
Cons: You have to press light switch longer. You got to get use to it.
We have stayed there during a conference in the convention center, it was 10 min walk from there, it's in the middle of shopping area, & restaurants. The hotel looks old when you see the entrance, but the room where we stayed was clean it has all the basic necessities that we need, there is a kitchenette with microwave, fridge and kitchen utensils. We also enjoyed breakfast in the rooftop. You can see a nice city view from there. They have big windows as well overlooking the streets, the parking is near and accessible. You have to pay 32$/day. It's better to do that than pay the fine by parking on the streets because of sweeping schedule. Overall it was a pleasant experience. my kid left her Ipad and they had called us right away when they found it.

Now I know why California has a water shortage!

Pros: Rooms were quite nice and a pretty spacious for the price. The room I had was not street-facing so it was quiet.
Cons: Fix the hot water issue
Location: Superb location, near to all the good stuff in Gaslamp, but one block removed so it's not obnoxiously loud.
Had issues with getting hot water. Called twice and both times they told me to just run the faucet for 10 minutes. Needless to say, I felt really guilty after every shower. While the water did eventually heat up, it never really got to that nice steamy temperature us "east coasters" love to have. Otherwise the hotel was pretty good for the price paid. I especially enjoyed eating breakfast on the rooftop while overlooking the city. PRO TIP: For an even better breakfast experience, grab a doughnut and nitro-brewed coffee from the famous "Donut Bar" near the hotel (7th and B)!

A good hotel

Continental breakfast served on a nice rooftop with nice views of the Gaslamp quarter. The breakfast starts at 7:00 am (I missed this most mornings because I had meeting starting at 7:30 at the Convention Center).  There is a good 24 hour restaurant a few hundred feet from the hotel, however (Bryan's 24), that has a lively early-morning atmosphere.  No pool.  Hotel Internet was spotty, and had to be paid for (Bryan's was free and pretty reliable).  My room was on the streetside, with lots of loud bars right next to the hotel, so it was pretty noisy past midnight - a room across the hall would have been quieter.  Also, my room was the closest to the elevators, and shaped so that the head of my bed was only about 10 feet from the elevator doors - so there was a lot of hallway noise through the night.
