Extended Stay America - San Diego Hotel Circle Sou

Location: Close to everything, downtown, Hill Crest, the beaches, and easy access to highways.
The room was great. Nice king size bed, two desks, a kitchen with full size refrigerator, microwave oven and two burner cook top. Only two negatives to speak of: the TV seemed rather small, 27" flat screen, and the remote would not turn/off the unit, but the channel and volume controls worked. The bathroom was large, but the shower did not work properly. When activating the shower control, at least half of the water continued to run through the tub faucet. Staff was kind and very helpful.

Avoid this hotel at all costs

Free parking is the only positive attribute of this hotel. Upon front entry you are greeted by a wave of smoke from smokers parked around the entryway. Look down to a sidewalk that hasn't been cleaned in months, if ever. Entry at the front desk was an inhospitable greeting and below average customer service from a male desk clerk. No luggage cart in sight and he was comfortable sending me on a scavenger hunt throughout the hotel to find it. The trip to your room on the urine scented elevator is enough to make you vomit. The rooms are average at best. Bring Lysol to spray everything and don't expect a good or any view from the filthy window. No daily room cleaning service unless you absorb a $10 daily fee. To receive fresh towels or toilet tissue you are forced to return to front desk holding your soiled towels in shame to request replacements. And if you're expecting a "continental breakfast" in the true sense - forget it. They offer pots of coffee (with spiders crawling on the canister), hot water and individually wrapped sugar filled muffins and granola bars. With a hotel rate only $10 - $20 under many other nearby options, this dump should never be your choice.

Thank you for your stay with us and for providing your feedback in this forum as well as other online review sites. We apologize our hotel and amenities were not to your expectations and your first impression was not a positive one. Our hotel is designed for guests staying a week or more at a time, who prefer a home-like living experience. So we certainly understand why you may have found our amenities and services a bit different than traditional hotels you may be familiar with. Regardless of the length of stay, our goal is to provide a clean, comfortable and well maintained hotel with a friendly staff at a good value. We apologize for the less than hospitable service you received from one of our staff members. Thank you again for staying with us and we hope to welcome you back soon! General Manager

Restocking

Loved our stay. Comfortable and clean. Only thing I can say is there was only one toilet paper roll in the bathroom that was already used. No other toilet paper stocked in bathroom. When I was gonna ask for some more I noticed a guy, also a customer, walking back to his room with 2 toilet paper rolls, one in each hand. His room probably didn't have any extra toilet paper either. Other than that ..I was satisfied.

Hotel Hell

Pros: NOTHING!!! WORST STAY EVER!!!!!
Cons: EVERYTHING!!!! YOUR HOTEL SUCKS!!! PHOTOS OF GARBAGE IN THE HALLWAYS WILL SOON BE UPDATED.
Arrived on 08/05/16. Hotel lobby smelled like old carpet. Graffiti in the elevator and lots and lots of garbage and trash bags in the hallways. Hotel staff said that housekeeping only works a few days out of the week. Our room looked as if they painted over old dirt. We tried to make the best of it. As we unpacked, the hotel bed smelled like urine and we had enough! Demanded a refund for the worst terrible stay at a hotel I ever had. I will never chose this hotel chain again!!!

Gross hair everywhere.

Pros: The kitchen.
Cons: Cleanliness. Broken window. Quieter doors.
Love the idea of this place. Great kitchen inside the room, good location, etc. But the hair in the bathroom was disgusting. Hair on the toilet, in the shower, on the sink. Ick. Also, the doors were loud so anytime anyone opened or closed a door, it would wake you up. Finally, the window was broken and was STUCK OPEN on a hot day in San Diego. Never got it to close so I had to turn the air conditioning on really high to battle against the open window which is sad. :( Not to mention that you can hear everything from outside with an open window.

Nobody seemed to care

Pros: reasonable price
Cons: unpleasant
We thought the price and location would be great, but it wasn't a pleasant stay. The hotel is designed so that you almost can't find the lobby, the folks at the front desk were too busy chatting with each other to give information. They were not pleasant or welcoming. The room was clean but furniture and cupboards were old or falling apart. The maid started vacumming at 7am in hallway. We accidently left something there and returned the next day and they hadn't even cleaned our room yet!! We fetched our item from the dirty room.

returning guests

My husband and I always stay at ESA when we want a break from the Phoenix heat. The rooms are large, it has a full kitchen, parking is ample and we always get a great rate on the room. We like to travel with our dog and this hotel does take animals. We did have a problem with the A/C but a maintenance person was up within 5 minutes to fix it.
